In regard to power generation and the potential problem of poles and wires "blowing down", I think its better to refer to the solution as being one of 'distributed' rather than "decentralised" generation. If the generation is distributed, the number of interconnecting paths to route energy around a fault increases tremendously and disaster can be averted. Decentralising reduces the number of sources, significantly increasing the risk of a single transmission line failure event resulting in disaster. My preference is to mandate and subsidise rooftop solar generation backed up by home and community battery storage which virtually completely eliminates the possibility of this type of network failure.

You'll all be pleased to know that, at 77yo, since my wife is working 3 jobs to keep us afloat since I was retrenched a few years ago, it is not even worth my while applying for the age pension, it would be worth only a few bucks a week. So, instead, I work in my wife's business which makes my situation even worse, but at least goes hallway to paying the rent. The pollies stole our pensions decades ago. Maybe we should divorce so we can afford to live together...

  39. The only way to stop the gas rorts is to stop using gas. Put solar PV on your roof (state gov't subsidised) and buy a home battery plus software to optimise benefit to you (also state gov't subsidised). Some even receive a net payment?
