  7. I've been up in a chopper once, a joy flight in a Robinson. It was a curious feeling lifting vertically (more or less) off the ground, but once up in the air, it felt just like being in a normal aircraft, except for the noise and vibration. Those things can move forwards at a fair clip! Landing was equally slightly disturbing. Hats off to chopper pilots, they have their work cut out when close to the ground with objects like buildings and power lines to avoid! And just getting a sense of height can't be easy when landing.
