  1. Erdogan and his Erdogoons want a return of the Ottoman empire, secularists and liberals are a problem to Erdogan who is a Islamic fundamentalist. On the other hand NATO has to manage Turkey properly as they are a very important strategic ally and they have historical connection to Russia Crimea and Ukraine. The best thing to do is to give them lee way when it comes to Russia and Ukraine, while squeezing them when it comes to Syria and the Kurds because they support Sunni Islamist radicals as proxy forces.
