And the molten Caprice taxicab.

So I take it you didn't see his review of this car's direct competitor, the Lexus LS500, which he criticized at the end as simply not as smooth or special as its predecessors -- or its direct competitors.
3
No, you missed the point of a car review, which is to pull no punches. Lexus was reliable, its cars fully engineered, and had outstanding dealer support from Day One. Genesis has been around for over 5 years and still hasn't fully resolved any of these. Genesis is "trying" to do what Lexus did, but the fact is they haven't done it and they may or may not ever.

My goodness, this car is such a superb value that it has 102% of a rear seat! :.D

@trstnhn "How many G90 did Genesis sell in November 2023? Genesis sold 68 G90 (in the entire U.S.) in November 2023." No, I am not living under a rock. You can zip the condescending Internet insults now.
2
@ClownWorldHONKHONK-yj5sn I personally think Motor Trend is much worse than C/D.
2
CX-50 is a likable car, but watch out for two key differences from the CX-5. 1) It's got a more primitive, cheaper non-independent rear suspension that rides and corners worse over bumps. 2) It's not made in Japan, but in a new Alabama factory that's generating both negative word-of-mouth and far worse Consumer Reports defect survey results than the CX-5.

He's recommended Hondas.

What reliability numbers have you been reading?!
2
@panarai_fan Not what the stats say.

@alex99398 Genesis ain't German, but reliability data say it ain't Lexus either. And Hyundai dealers are inferior to Lexus dealers in more ways than just the coffee and Danish.
1
@dfsdh432v9 I don't know about that, but Lexus is probably the most reliable brand in the US market, and Genesis definitely isn't that. And if it breaks, I've heard anecdotally that the wait for parts can be loooong. They don't sell many G90's here.
1
@alex99398 "Genesis dealers" barely even exist in most parts of America at this point. Most Genesis vehicles are sold and serviced by Hyundai dealers, confirmed by numerous survey as wildly inferior to Lexus dealers, the best in the industry. Pickup and dropoff are not unique to Genesis; Lexus dealers have long provided them. Don't talk down to me.
1
Well, they've nailed the first half of it at least.
1
@alpha7ization This "already the new Lexus" is woefully misinformed. Lexus wasn't just a car. it was a whole new way of designing, building, engineering, and it was the first to break through the German monopoly. And from Day One, it had its own, outstanding dealers-- the exact opposite of Genesis.
1
Low-RPM power with lower emissions for today's stricter regulations.
1
@trstnhn And I wouldn't know from this latest in your series of insulting smart-ass posts that you were posting replies to a G90 review.
1
Check out the G80's one-piece molded plastic gas cap door. When the hinge inevitably fatigues and breaks, you'll have to do heavy disassembly to avoid having your luxury car look like a hoopty.

The wood is real veneer, BTW.
1
The Genesis would trample it. That Lexus is a dog, well beneath the historical standards of the LS nameplate.
1
@turnne Reliability, room, ride comfort, sales popularity, reviews. The current LS fails them all.
1
@turnne Yes, it says that several factors go into selling a prestige car: Product design, brand image, dealer experience, parts availability, to name a few. The current LS fails the first one. Genesis fails every one of these except the first one.
1
@turnne "turnne," I gather "you don't know either" is your attempt at an Internet-winning mic drop. If you trust this company to give you a Lexus-like ownership experience, by all means, invest your money. But before you do, invest a minute to listen at the 21:00 mark of this largely positive Genesis test video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ULVDFyGngH8
