  1. Not quite. The LS very reliable by the standards of high-end luxury cars, but the ES's greater simplicity and proven, bulletproof engine make it more so.

  2. I see it's been a while since you posted, so sorry if this is too late to be useful to you. But... Mercedes E Class: Better handling, nicer inside. Lexus ES: Lower price, better reliabillity.
