  1. It’s the engine and DSG that you’re paying for. Its a tuning monster and with some bolt ons they run 10’s. Turbo upgrade runs 9’s. How many 9 second cars runs all year round in the rain and snow?

  2. I’ve had mine for a year and love it. Audi did detune these, but with a tune, DP, intercooler, and some E85 blend, they will run low 10’s all day long. Just a tune wakes these up big time. Springs and a rear sway bar totally transforms it into a great handling car.

  8. This car is not intended to be a full luxury car. It’s a small sporty sedan that’s fast. It’s all about this masterpiece engine and DSG. One of the best engines and one of the most tuning power houses. I wasn’t even looking to buy a new car, but when I heard the US was finally getting the RS3 with an all new aluminum 5 cylinder engine, I went and placed my order. Most random thing I ever did. This is a car that can be easily tuned to run 10’s at the quarter mile and drive in snow blizzards, which is totally unheard of. Stock they run 11.7 and 0-60 in 3.6 seconds. Tuned with bolt on parts are running high 2’s from 0-60. Totally ridiculous. The engine is hand built by the same team who build the V-10 for the R8 and Lamborghini Huracan. Engines have similar sound and it’s half of the V10 with a big turbo. The virtual cockpit is awesome. It’s a very classic design interior with a minimalistic look. Everything is within reach and so well thought out. I got mine in an Exclusive color and it gets a lot of attention. I’ve had it for over a year and 25k miles. This car makes me happy. The sound and power always puts a smile on my face.

VW may own the company like they own Porsche, Lamborghini, Bentley, etc. They are the biggest manufacturing car company in the world. I own it outright and didn’t lease it. I would never buy a regular VW anyway. Not my cup of tea. They are just cheap cars. I would have chosen Honda like you. 👍 Do your research though. RS3 is a different specialty car. No engine or transmission parts are shared. I bought it for a 10 second AWD car that I can drive all year round. I got an Exclusive color so it gets lots of attention and gets me customers for my business. Car makes me money.

  10. B L Just trying to educate people on this car. Cause all car reviews don’t know the heritage behind this drivetrain. The technology of this is is a masterpiece. The Audi 5 cylinder goes way back to the Rally days. The sound those cars made and the way they dominated were amazing. I always watched videos in the UK where all the RS3’s were killing exotic super cars. I was so inspired from the sound and grunt of that engine and was bummed we couldn’t get it in the US. When it was announced to come to the US in sedan form, I kept my promise to myself and ordered one in a custom color. My wish came true after many years.

  11. VihuelaTv I’ve had it for 16 months and 30k on it. It’s been great! I’m so glad I bought this. There are quite a few of them running in the 9’s with bolt ons that are running excellent. Some guys are pounding the heck out of them daily with no issues. Very impressive! The drivetrain is close to bulletproof. All electronics in the car are excellent. Fit and finish are excellent too.

  12. Daily Dose Of Cars Totally different car. 4 door, AWD, and comfortable suspension vs a 2 door, rear drive, with a harsher suspension. I love the new M2 Comp, but hate the S55 engine sound. It has more power than the RS3 on paper, but the RS3 is a lot faster.

  14. timothy lacy manual seats were used for multiple reasons. They sit lower, less weight, and are inspired from Porsche. 300k Porsche Gt2/3 RS’s all have manual seats. Not one of those people complain. In fact they prefer it.

  16. bongmist Who Cares about track times on a street car. That’s what Porsche’s are made for. These are street cars. RS3 is faster 0-60 and 40 to 150. I’ve seen a lot of videos on the M2 Comp racing. It’s a sick car, but track times are not impressive. It’s a great street car for going sideways and having fun.

  17. bongmist I had a Golf R and was a fun daily car. I just hated the 4 cylinder sound. Sound is also everything too. If I didn’t care about sound I would have gotten a Tesla Performance 3. Very quick and handle good with great feedback. My friend had an M2 and got a Comp now. He even said he hates the sound of the S55, but overall loves everything else more. Launch control is embarrassing with the sound. It’s weak. The N55 sounded good. I may even pick up an M2 Comp down the road as a fun car, but will keep my RS3. I have a bond with that car. Best daily car with great power for any weather. Plus I got the Exclusive color so it looks excellent. M2 Comp will be my weekend car if I do get one. I’ve also been eyeballing used R8 V10’s. Love driving them. That car always makes me happy.

  18. Devy Valentino F Type no AWD and only 2 doors. Maintenance is a pain too. Tesla too quiet for me. I raced a performance one last week. I beat him, but he kept up really close. I was shocked. 😬 I actually work on Tesla’s and o hate their fit and finish. Terrible. Hopefully in the future they fix it and maybe I will consider one. RS3 is a riot to drive.

  21. On paper M2 comp had more horsepower. On road, RS3 is much faster. Audi under rated their horsepower on this. It’s closer to 430-440. 0-60 is 3.6 on RS. M2 comp is 4.2 DSG. 4.5 with manual. Top end speed on the M2 comp is awful, but it’s not designed for that use. RS3 pulls very hard on highway. I have an RS3 and looking to buy an M2 comp. Driven both and compared, but they are two entirely different cars. M2 comp is a fun backroad car. I just wish it sounded better.

  38. B Fisher You just don’t understand this car and the engine with it’s amazing tuning capabilities. With a tune and bolt ons, it will spank super cars. Run 9 to 10 seconds in the quarter. Do the half mile at 170-180. There are videos on YouTube to prove it. Ford Focus RS all had major head issues due to a block design. It also rides extremely harsh. This engine and transmission costs almost as much as the Focus RS.

Also, there are thousands of them where I live. I bought the RS3 to be different and not be the common man. I can spot my car from a mile. With a Tesla, you can easily walk up to the wrong one. I want my car to sound awesome too. Tesla too boring and quiet.

  55. You should do research on the Audi 5 cylinder. There are guys running 9 seconds on stock internals beating them everyday with over 25k miles so far. It’s a hand built engine built by the same team who build the V10 for the R8/Huracan.

  57. G Money They have sold thousands on orders last year. Been out for 1.5 years in the states and still hard to find. The TTRS is the coupe version of this car. A little quicker too. I’ve seen a few with a tune and Intercooler only break into the 10’s quarter mile. I wish they built a baby R8 with this engine in the rear. That would be epic.

I wish I never got the Golf R, but super happy to own the RS3. Plus if you tune a Golf R, you can just tune the RS3 too. I never understood the logic behind your statement.

  69. Peter Hammer I didn’t buy my car for track. I needed 4 doors with AWD. Had my days of modified 500hp Mustangs for 20 years for daily’s. I drive 100 miles a day. If I was to track, I would have gotten a GT4. On the road, the RS3 is neutral, unless I have 19” snows on it. With Michelin summers, I don’t feel understeer. 30k miles on it so far. I hang around with a lot of BMW and Porsche guys and they all love my car. I got an Exclusive color which gets lots of attention. Best daily car!

  70. Peter Hammer If I was in your shoes, then go for M2 Comp. Don’t bother with the first one. M240 with some bolt ons are good too. I know over here in Boston area, used 240’s are getting cheap. I wanted an M3 really bad, but after driving them in the city, I couldn’t do it everyday. Too bouncy on rough roads. It makes me miss the E90 ones that are perfect size too. I have a good friend who is an instructor. He has a cup car and a GT2 for me to track when I go. In a year or two I will pick up another rear drive car for fun days. I like the M2 comp, but R8 keeps calling me.

  71. Peter Hammer I ended getting mine in Nogaro Blue. It’s an old classic color of the RS2 and B5 S4’s. Definitely gets a lot of attention. I almost got Porsche Voodoo Blue, but switched to the all favorite classic Audi color. It’s weird cause I’m not even an Audi guy. Was a Porsche and BMW guy. It’s the 5 cylinder is what sold me. Now if I could get an M2 in Nogaro Blue, I would order it tomorrow.

I’m busy everyday even in the winter. People drive exotics here in the winter. Most SUV here are close to 100k and they are everywhere.

  101. Zeruel82Mk2 I have. DSG is much faster shifting, but it can be a little jerky in traffic. Not as bad as a GTR though. The XF 8 is so smooth but still shifts quick. DSG is just faster and harder. You literally feel if pushing you as it shifts. RS5 is more luxury so it suits it better. RS3 is spunky, so the DSG fits its personality. All companies are eventually getting away from dual clutches transmission. It’s too costly for them. ZF is much cheaper.

  103. Two entirely different cars. It’s also an enthusiast car with the legendary RS design 5 cylinder. This car is for those who want to drive fast. Not much will beat it on the road for it’s price. It’s close to Hellcat and GTR territory. It’s also a premium car with top shelf parts. A VW Jetta is all bottom shelf parts. No offense, but it’s cheap for a reason. I like Audi’s, but I would buy a Honda before a Jetta for an inexpensive daily car.

  107. Buck bex With this car, as long as you’re in Dynamic mode and traction is off, all you have to do is hold down brake and gas. Doesn’t turn off till car shuts off. I always drive in dynamic with traction off anyway. I love how easy Audi made it.

  112. Mark Wagner I remember those. Air cooled and always need to carry an extra belt. So you like old cars and not new cars. Doesn’t mean the new ones are awful. Just built with precision. Porsche’s are actually the best built old cars. I work on old cars and new cars. Old cars are nice, but nothing lines up perfect and rust out too fast if taken in bad weather. My days of owning old cars are done. I don’t have time for them and working on them to keep them running.

  116. FortuneSeek3rz I haven’t raced mine yet. There are lots of them on YouTube. They also have FB group too. People are running anywhere from 120’s all the way to 150’s Plus. Still a new platform. My good friend just put a hybrid turbo on his. Should run mid 9’s on street trim. He’s had a lot of fast cars and he can’t believe how insane his car is for only bolt ons. Spring time you will see a bunch of them at the tracks running some great times. Most people are modding them with bolt ons. There are a few of them with built bottom ends ready for 8 seconds that are daily driven. All 3 of them have 20k miles minimum already.

Don’t tell me different because I work on them. They are great cars if you’re a kid, but when you grow up, you want classy and faster with quality build.   135. bongmist It’s still in the air with Nissan. I know they did awful with sales last year. It’s the huge price increase they had over the years too. But in reality it’s still priced competitively. It was just underpriced when it first came out and people got used to that price. Plus the R35 is outdated tech wise. I love the Huracan and it’s the first Lamborghini that I love. It’s also a lot lot more than an R8. People usually go for R8 cause it’s not only cheaper, but it’s also less attention you get. Some people hate being bothered in their car. I work on all high end sports cars to exotics. When I have an R8, people just tend to walk by it. A Huracan gets so much attention that I have to hide it in my shop. The one reason I love the RS3 so much is that bits and pieces of the look and feel are carried over from the R8 and Huracan. I can’t wait to see what the R36 looks like in person. Big fan of the R35.

I also paid an extra 3900 for an Exclusive color which you can choose from VW, Audi, Porsche, Lamborghini colors. I ended up going the old Nogaro Blue which gets a lot of attention. It pops. Base is 54 without virtual cockpit which only person ordered it that way. Virtual cockpit is a must have. Same as in the R8 and similar to the Huracan. I got everything except for ceramic brakes. Mine was 68 including the color. Got it for 64 cause I know the dealer good. There are only a couple used ones out there for high 50’s. All new ones are sold and the 19’s have not been released yet. The one in this video is actually an 18 and not a 19 like the title says. His title is wrong.

  138. iMiguelAOG what scratchy plastic? I own the car. Dash is all soft rubber material. Interior in minimalistic and a classic design. I’m picky and I love the quality. Got to see in person. Better than BMW’s. It’s racing inspired so no power seats. 300k Porsche’s don’t have power seats neither.

  140. iMiguelAOG It’s a satin matte finish and a durable finish. I coated mine so it’s good. Powered by Intel too. Very fast graphics and same as you would find in an R8. Lamborghini uses the similar screens too, which are all made by the same manufacturer.

  142. DramaTv 101 all great summer cars. I need an all year car that I put 20k plus a year on that’s comfortable, AWD, and fast. The Hellcat I can barely make it on an on-ramp with out losing my tires. Haha. Fun as hell, but annoying after awhile. Most of my friends got rid of theirs. Would make the best car for Florida or California. M3 was too harsh on bumpy roads, outdated dash, sounds awful. I love the car other than that. Again crappy in the winter. I wanna see what the next body is like. I’m still a big BMW fan. M2 was fun, but not quick enough. I like the M2 comp better, but hate the sound. A tune on the RS3 and I can spank all those cars on the road and 1/4 mile. Drive in the snow in a 10 second car with comfort. Sounds phenomenal too. My friend has a ZL1 1LE and I took him for a ride last week. He was speechless. It’s funny how he brags about my car to people now. Haha. I do love his ZL1 though. We’re gonna trade for a day or two. It’s funny cause I’m not even an Audi guy, but have always loved the V10 in the R8/Huracan. The Audi 5 cylinder is my second favorite, but we haven’t had it in a long time in the US. As soon as I heard the engine was coming to the US in the RS3 and TTRS, I put my order in right away. Got an Exclusive color to get attention and be different. The 5 cylinder is a hand built engine built by the same group that build the V10’s. It’s half of the V10 and has the similar sound note too. I did a lot of research that are not found in reviews.

  145. Chris Bach resale is doing good and there are only a few used ones for sale. 19’s won’t be out till mid year and are all sold out. This car tested is an 18 and not a 19. No 19’s have been built yet.

  146. Chris Bach this is not meant to be a luxury car. It’s a sporty compact sedan that screams. Tuned, it’s a super car killer. We are paying for the epic drivetrain and the phenomenal power.
