@j_tootie Now a M340i is more like it. A much better car for 65k. Years ago I was in same situation. I ended up buying an RS3 for cheaper than what they wanted for a Type R at 65k. I see Type R at lights and race them. 5 seconds later, I can’t even see their headlights. M340 is also another winner and That B58 engine is amazing. My favorite two engines in past few years are Audi 5 cylinder and BMW B58. Two spectacular engines. 5 cylinder definitely has the amazing sound though. Half that V10.

@j_tootie New BMW and Audis are built so good these days. Not like the older ones. B58 drivetrain is so damn good. Let’s put it this way, Toyota put their badge of approval on it with that Supra logo. Need I say anymore. I’ll put money on it, I will pop two 2.0 Honda engines before I ever come close to popping a B58 engine with double the miles. Hondas are not bulletproof like everyone says they are. They are just easier and cheaper to fix. But you will break them a lot easier.

Honda did ruin the new Accord. So more desire for this Type R.

I’m getting a 2030 soon. 😂

@porfiriato84 You can’t compare a two door 2 seater to a 4 door, 4 seater. Two polar opposites. One is a sedan that can carry a family and stuff vs one that can only carry one passenger. That’s like going to shop for a pickup truck and buying a minivan instead because it’s cheaper. Two different purposes.

@porfiriato84 If one is looking for a sports car, you normally go for the 2 door sports. People who need a 4 door, have to buy a 4 door. There are a lot more people who need 4 doors with 4 seats. That’s why they are priced so high. A new S2000 would not sell as well as the Type R. Not even close. Limited use cars always sell less. Unfortunately Honda decided to limit the market so dealers could mark them up to make up difference from loss of inventory. Honda could have easily made a lot of these and sold for msrp. They chose not too. Honda won’t be building these for long unfortunately.

@porfiriato84 Get a 240. The B58 engine is what you want. You can’t find deals on them used or at least you could. My friend had a M2 comp that he sold because he had knee issues and bought a 240 and modded. I drove both back to back and the modded 240 was amazing. AWD is also amazing in snow and ice if you also go AWD route. Traction in wet is also amazing. I highly recommend it.

@porfiriato84 You can get a previous gen M340 with a manual. I didn’t care for trans and shifter though. Needs a short throw linkage. I never did care for BMW’s newer manuals. Even M2 comps are not good manuals. Honda and Porsche make the best manuals.

@porfiriato84 4 cylinder is B48 and 6 is B58. You can get both in AWD. Big difference in engines and performance. If you don’t care about the faster one or modding, then a B48 engine is great too. B58 is just a better built engine by a ton.

@porfiriato84 The 130hp is a massive difference. My wife has a 15 3 series with a B48 and she’s had great luck with it. No lag at all and it’s one of the best 4 cylinders on market. When I go from her car to my RS3 though, it’s a massive difference in power. B58 is closer to my car.

@porfiriato84 My friend and I were just talking about M340 this morning. I would love to get an M3 comp, but it’s gonna be my daily driver in all seasons. After driving my friends M3 comp I realized, Bucket seats are too stiff, suspension is too stiff even in softer setting, and putting a lot of miles on a true M engine are very costly and not as reliable as a B58. Nobody can even deny that. If I do choose a sedan, it will be M340 only because it’s got plenty of room, comfortable and a reliable engine. They use this drivetrain in a lot of vehicles. An M car is a great weekend car. M340 is a superb all around car. It’s the Swiss Army knife car.

@porfiriato84 I would wait for prices to collapse too. The car industry is starting to show signs of weakness. Used car market will soon take a tumble.
