  1. Not sure why people compare M2 and RS3. Two different personalities. M2 is a sports car that’s a raw 2 door, rear drive that’s fun in the corners and slower speeds. Stiffer suspension and bouncy on rough roads. No traction in the snow or wet roads. But it is a real fun car. RS3 is a 4 door sedan that is great on crappy roads, all wheel drive, brutal engine, and can get up to high speed real fast while maintaining it easy. The amount of speed you can carry on wet crappy roads is amazing. Amazing sound too. Tuning puts them in supercar territory with ease. I would have both to have the most fun as they both have different personalities. Two of the best cars from each manufacturer.

  2. Resale on the 240 will be crap. Make sure you get 10k off sticker. M2 will lose 2k the first year. 240 will lose at least 15 easily. Mass produced versus a specialty car is huge difference.

  3. Adrian P I would take a Porsche if I want rear drive. A true sports car. Having driven so many sports cars from RS3, M2’s, Porsche’s. The RS3 is the best daily and Porsche is the ultimate fun car. The M2 is a very good car for price and value will hold great. But that’s just it. It’s just a good car. It doesn’t wow me with excitement when driving. Porsche wows me every time I drive no matter if it’s a Caymen or a 911. Being honest. But if one is a BMW fan then the M2 makes perfect sense. It’s the best value in the BMW lineup.

  4. I've looked at both these and drive both. I ended up with the Golf R for it great ride, great interior, great suspension, and great power. It's smoother and faster than the STI. Do a stage 1 tune in the R and it's even faster with 0-60 under 4 seconds. The DSG is awesome. The STI is a nice car, but it's looks like a boy racer car and the cops love them. The interior is still cheap and build quality is nothing like Audi/VW. The R has excellent build quality and very well thought out. Remember VW has the best resources as they own the best car manufacturers. I can fly around in the R and cops never look at me. My next car will be the RS3 or S5. Also look at the Golf R forums and see how many people are coming from WRX and STI and moving to the R's. The first thing they say is wow. I like the STI and would love to take one off-road. I bet it would be a lot of fun. For the road it just screams bust me.

  5. It’s funny when the original M2 came out, everyone claimed it was the best M car that was perfect. Now that the new M2C is out, everyone is saying how slow the old one was, no engagement with manual, steering felt numb, poor interior, no M buttons, poor brakes. Now all of a sudden people complain about the first one. 😂🤣 Anyway, I’m glad they improved on it. The original was slow and didn’t feel anything like an M car. I never got why all the reviews were all that great. As always, great reviews!!!!

  6. Skytalker777 I used to think Audi was overrated too, till I drove a few. Now I am all about Audi. If you've ever driven any of their performance cars, you would understand.

  7. I've got mine in Exclusive Nogaro Blue. Love the car and it gets lot of attention everywhere I go. I had a Golf R before this and it feels like a different car. Audi did great on the Haldex and can now send 100% power to the rear. The handling is excellent too. Feels very neutral and planted. The sound is my favorite though.

  9. Adrian P Have you even driven an M2? I’ve had lots of fast rear drive standards. Back in the day I built Fox body 400 too 500 Hp with no electronics and small brakes. Scary ass cars and lots have died in them. New M2’s are easy and don’t scare you. It’s just enough power for your average driver who can’t mess up. If you’re going to go rear drive, then go rear drive insane. I’m more into super cars these days as I work on them daily. Yes Porsche’s are expensive and for good reason. I chose the RS3 cause it can easily be tuned to be a 10 second road car that can drive in ice, snow, rain and sun. Sounds awesome and has the mini R8/Huracan sound and feel. It just holds itself to the road at unbelievable speeds with great comfort too. I got an exclusive color to be different and it gets lots of attention. All my Bmw friends love it too. True car guys.

  11. Jack Liu In the US, I’ve been going back and forth between the M2/240 and the new RS3. After spending hours driving all 3 of them I definitely love the Rs3. That thing rips and was very comfortable too. The 240 is too close in price to the M2. M2 was quicker than the 240 too. The Rs3 was insane in power though. It was in a different league. I was actually impressed with the way it handled. All I hear from internet people is how Audi’s understeer. It was very neutral and I even got the ass end out a couple times. It just sucks that the Rs3 is 10k more here. M2 might be the better bargain for resale though. I just can’t get how well the Rs3 performed on our crappy roads with the amount of speed. We finally have a lot of great choices.

  12. 3dkiller I drove both of them and after being in the Golf R, I was sold on the interior. I ended up getting the Golf R DSG. The STI is a nice car and the interior is nice for a Subaru, but it is nowhere as nice as the Golf R. The Car play, dash options, Nav, paddle shifters, digital speedometer, etc are all amazing on the R. It's almost like they stole ideas from Audi. The 18 STI has a nice interior too, but the Golf R is still much nicer.

  17. Tim Kirkpatrick Haha. I thought the same too when I hopped back in my Golf R. I had great intentions on trading her in. I can't get used to the interior and the suspension is just too much on my back. I'll wait till the RS3 comes to the states and get it. Till then I will have a blast in the R.

  22. You guys do realize there are numerous guys in the US with over 650hp with no issues with the trans. Hank Iroz is at 1000 plus HP and only broke a driveshaft. Trans is a total brute! Audi did a phenomenally on the DQ500. Will need to upgrade clutch packs if you want high clamping torque.

  23. bongmist Trust me. There is a lot of fun smoldering an M2 M3 M4 on the road. Puts a smile on my face every time. They don’t expect it, but we all get along great in the end. It’s all good fun as long as we are all safe. We all buy these cars mainly for the road. They are road cars.

  31. Stef The Supra 385 hp coming out with the B58 will probably be close to the M2C, unless BMW holds back for this reason. Will see what Toyota can pull out of BMW.

  33. dwain pipe two totally different cars. 2 for vs 4 door AWD. RS3 is much faster and with a tune it’s ridiculous. But it’s very usable power, even in the rain and snow. I’m sure you already know that after having an R. I had an R and now an RS3. I’m trying to find an M2 comp to try out. The original M2 didn’t impress me much.

  37. stinger15au You should have seen the original M2 back to back with my RS3. I wanted the M2 really bad until I drove it for an hour. Hopped back in my RS3 and had a huge smile. I bought my RS3 and got offered 5 k more than what I paid. Mostly cause of the Exclusive color I got. Figured the M2 would have been 15 k cheaper at that point. I was so excited for the M2 till I drove it.

  39. Stephen Plays totally different playing fields. RS3 is a total beast, especially when tuned. M2C is a fun car to have fun in the corners sliding sideways. I would have normally said it would be a great track car, but the track times are average and it seems to have a good amount of understeer. Most likely from the heavy engine.

  44.  @aguyfromgermany5202  You are the only person I’ve heard with that issue. I have almost 90k on mine and beat it daily. I change my oil every 5k and it’s only down about half a quart. It’s been like that always. It’s normal.

  50. Talkditings dem entirely different shell, suspension, brakes, etc. In two years the 240 will lose 15k value where the M2 will lose 2K. There will also be a ton of 240’s out there and hardly any M2’s. Trust me the M2 is the best financial buy. It will do better than M3 and M4.
