I looked into it. Need to change heads and turbo. So expect to out 20k into it and lose warranty.

This is a phenomenal car if you don’t mind the limited power and low rpm. Tuning doesn’t do much. For real HP, you need to change the heads and turbo which is not cheap and you lose warranty. Not sure if 10 speed will handle all that extra power. Acura dialed the high rpm’s back on purpose. So it doesn’t blow. They neutered it. Sadly.

@kevinryan2992 plus the Honda 10 speed is nowhere as strong as Audi and BMW ZF8. Type S is a great Grand Touring car that you drive stock with no worries.

@TankQ50 I don’t see that 10 speed holding that much torque. 10 speed is not that strong. Look at all complaints in mini vans and Pilots lately. Even MDX owners complain about 10 speeds.

@TankQ50 Many B58’s running 9’s and 10’s stock transmissions. Look at RS3’s, with most of them running 9’s all stock transmissions. Honda is great reliability stock. Once you mod them, they are far from reliable. You gotta pay to play. This is why German cars are so class leading now in performance. Plus they are built for it.

@kevinryan2992 Thr tuning on S4 and M340 is massive improvements. Type S is bottlenecked at heads. So you need to change heads, turbo, and lose warranty to get over 400hp. I looked into it already.

This is AWD. This is the TLX. Not the Intergra.

@TankQ50 For 10k more, you can buy an M340 which is so much better. Plus tuning is cheap and endless. Plus it can handle it with ease.

Show me who is making 800 hp on stock blocks on these TLX’s. Thats why many have sold them.

It’s the lack of tuning that it has. You are pretty much stuck with what it has. If one doesn’t care about making it go faster, it’s a perfect car. Extremely nice and fun to drive.

@hhaste True. People need to know this before buying this and thinking they can mod it to high hp numbers.

It makes 280 at the wheels on the dyno. So Honda didn’t underrate these.

@TankQ50 Facts are facts. I don’t get stuck on a brand. I buy what’s best for the money and gives best opportunity for more mods safely. For you to hate a car based on a badge, it’s silly. You are not a die hard performance fan.

@TankQ50 These TLX’s have been out for years. There’s a reason why you don’t see any running 10’s or 11’s.

B&O is awful. Hate their amps in every car they make. An AtoB is 950 just to get a clean signal out to go to a dsp. Only NavTV sells them. Then you can do aftermarket Mosconi amps and Focal speakers. Nothing will top that. Not cheap though. All of B&O speakers are made in China. Sad. Hopefully Acura makes them do something different, but it’s to reduce costs without adding to inflation on MSRP. Acura spent a lot to have ELS. With rising costs, I can see why they are changing though. If they can cut back $1000 per car, they will. Overhead for these companies is rising too much.

@tempestsquall5882 RS3 has 400+ hp from factory. Plus it’s insanely tunable. M340 has close to 400 and is also very tunable with ease.

Depends if you want to tune to get more HP or just enjoy the way it is. M340 if you want to mod it to go even faster. Rear drive bias mean you can kick its rear around corners. Maintenance is a little higher. A solid bulletproof drivetrain. Huge community with parts everywhere. TLX S if you want to keep stock and enjoy it for what it is. It’s rarer, super nice interior, classy looks, sounds good, with amazing handling. It’s glued to the road. Aftermarket Parts are harder to find and expensive compared to 340.

This 10 speed is not anything like the incredible ZF8. 10 speed is weak. Search to see all the issues with them.

@drivescene6747 we will see. B&O is awful. I’ve been into stereos and car integration for 36 years and never seen a good B&O speaker. Their amps are bass heavy with lots of missing harmonics. All are cheap trash. Even in the 100k plus Audis. Most people are not audiophiles and only like Bass. Acura knows they won’t lose customers over it. No big deal. As long as it has bass. That’s all people care about.

@tyhyhh M340, you can do a JB4 piggy back and still keep your warranty. Just take it off if warranty is needed. Cheap and easy. Type S, you need tune, DP, iC, and intake manifold just to get it to 375hp. Then lose warranty. Not enough hp to justify it. Plus all that cost over 5k for a small bump in power. JB4 for B58 is cheap.

B58 in anything is amazing. Best drivetrain to get.

Longevity wise, M340. Plus you can tune it for cheaper and make a lot of power if needed. Its drivetrain can handle it with ease. Type S has a cool factor, but its reliability is just ok. Transmissions are weak in them. Tuning is weak.

I wish Acura would upgrade the transmissions in these. Thats my biggest worry. Seen numerous ones blown in these and MDX’s.
