50k and only half a digital display? Wow, Honda is cutting costs.

@davewilson7602 I just told a dealer I want a Trailsport with full digital dash. They told me I have to get an Elite for that. I told them to call me in a few years when Honda updates the Trailsport to full digital dash.

@epp4791 It’s actually tacky for half of a display and looks out of place. Half ass company. People who give Honda a pass for this are the reason it happens. This is why German vehicles are great sellers. This is also why I’ve owned German vehicles for decades. Full options. No half ass anything.

@kodypagel9167 What does a game have to do with missing features? Stop making excuses as to why it’s ok to allow them to keep half assing vehicles. They do it because you just think it’s ok. I’m an intelligent shopper. I’ve been in the car industry for 35 years. Any company that gives you half a digital display, when in fact they have full ones is a joke of a company. Look at the Accord. They got rid of the 2.0T 10 speed. Now it’s a 2.0 non turbo that is a lot slower with a CVT. Many people hate CVT and will shop for another brand now. This is another reason why Hyundai, Toyota, and Kia are taking a lot of sales from Honda. That half digital display has my OCD spiked along with other people too. It’s not just me. It’s a poor attempt at parts shortage. I’m sure other things were cut too.

@kodypagel9167 Well if you can afford an expensive car with all options, you would. Those who make excuses can’t afford the expensive ones. I was just looking to lease a Trailsport for my company. I just can’t live with a half display because it’s a cost cutting approach, while still charging a premium for a Honda. This just reminds me of why I buy German cars. All the tech that is simplistic. No cost cutting. Yes, I will use everything. If I want a base model, I would buy one. This is not the 80’s anymore. I also don’t make excuses for a company making half of something when in fact they have a full display. So either they have a supply shortage and that’s the reason, it now scares me away from the brand. It’s not about options. It’s about giving half a digital display. Looks out of place. My ocd can’t deal with it.

@kodypagel9167 I’ve been a mechanic for 36 years. Mechanical windows failed 1000 times more than power windows. Mechanical odometers failed 100000000 more times than digital ones. The old auto transmissions were awful till recent. Now they don’t break. Well that was until CVT came out. Those will break. Not a good design at all. Shocked Honda went to them after making a lot of money for not having them. Electrical is simpler than mechanical. Mechanical is more abuse on a part and found out of alignment. Digital dash is easier to install than mechanical. 80 percent shorter time. Digital dashes going these days is unheard of. Mechanical dashes always had issues. Ask any BMW owner of past 30 years. Newer ones don’t have the same issues as older cars. With your mindset, get rid of your smartphone and go back to rotary. It’s so mechanical and lots of joy with your fingers. You had to memorize numbers and dial correctly. That’s why Porsches make the best cars. Still mechanical, but all the tech everyone needs. Overbuilt to not break. That’s why the demand for them are high. Prices have skyrocketed on them too. So precise. Absolute driving machines with speed and agility. Hondas break down just as any other car. They all have their issues. The timing belt has to be changed every 100k. Remember all those years with bad trans. I’ve had a ton of cars in my life and my best luck cars were German cars as of recent. All my Honda, Lexus cars had issues after 50k. Many issues. Lexus was the highest expense car I owned. Parts even at my cost were so overpriced. American cars are a joke. Basic but crap parts. All my built muscle cars broke often. Weak parts. Poor designs. Poor wiring. Poor everything. Fun to drive and that’s about it. Most likely I will get an Audi Q7 or even SQ7. Worth every penny. Reliable and easy to fix for most part. I only wanted an Trailsport to lease because of its size. Looks cool. Until I see the cost cutting for a Honda at 50k. I wanted something to keep the miles off of my car. BMW X5 also has great leases. They drive amazing with great power too. Just a tad more than Pilot. It’s actually fun to drive where Honda is slower and boring. Honda just has more cargo room.

@thegreat9481 I want a company to not cut cost. Stop making excuses for them. This is why you are forced this down your throat. Because you allow it to happen. I walked away once I seen the cost cutting. I even said I would pay 1k to have the option. They said it’s not even an option on Trailsport. Pass!

@thegreat9481 The V6 is good. Wish it had more power. I still can’t deal with half a screen. Looks awkward. Especially if it’s a parts shortage.

@2004cyrus Say what you want, but they didn’t get a sale from me. When I was younger, I was a sales manager for 14 years. Trust me, a loss in a sale is not good. Especially over a feature that was half assed due to supply shortages. It’s an option that should have been made optional. I even said if I paid extra to have it, could I get it. They said no, it’s not even an option. They said most likely a part shortage. When I was the manager, I take those customer requests/complaints and put them through corporate. This is how manufacturers listen to customers through feedback of dealership network. I’m sure you are not a manager to make decisions like I was. Honda has to remember they have fierce competition. They still have supply shortages and still lacking in sales. I know this because I’m still in automotive field. To think I backed out of a deal for a supply shortage on half a digital dash makes them look bad. The company looks like they are piecing cars together to get by financially. Many are. You can make all the excuses for Honda all you want. It doesn’t change my mind. They still found a way to get by a supply shortage. I don’t want to be part of that dilemma. I can only imagine what else they cut cost in that’s not visible.
