  1.  @alpe6228 9 speeds have a lot of issues. Biggest complaint from owners. The 10 speed in the minivan is also a huge complaint too. The Mmi units fail often.

  4. Depends what your needs are. RS3 has AWD so it’s an all year round car. Tune it and it will beat the Hellcat. Few of them at the drags beating them. I drove my buddies Hellcat Charger a few times and it’s a blast. Just has a hard time fighting traction. Even on the highway, when you pinch it to pass someone, the wheels break loose. RS3 just goes, especially when tuned.

  6. John Donofrio Not these. This is the best Audi to own. 5 cylinder is a bullet proof engine. Brakes are a little costly cause they come from the older R8/ Lamborghini Gallardo. But pads are 200. Easy to change. I have almost 40k on mine and I drive it hard. Only changed the oil. Lots of guys online with all of them tuned to 550 plus HP and they are all loving theirs. Yes I do agree with the V8’s that they were expensive to maintain. It all depends on what you get. The RS3 is easy. Lots of aftermarket parts for these. Guys are also building engines with forged internals for 8000. That’s a deal. There are a few out there with close to 1000 hp with Built bottom ends. Only seen a rear drive shaft break. Transmission is beyond amazing.

  7. John Donofrio I personally would never get an STI. Too rough riding and my clients would not respect me the same. Unfortunately. Plus I would pop an STI engine in a heartbeat. I drive very hard.

  8. John Donofrio We have lots of STI guys in our RS3 group that converted over. They are all really super impressed with the RS3. Especially the power increase with only a tune and E85. Mid 10’s all day.

  9. John Donofrio I work on high end exotics and deal with those guys. Really excellent people that pay very well. So hopping in my RS3 at end of day is a nice place with a perfect suspension for bumps. Similar sound as a Lamborghini Huracan. I get that comment a lot when driving customers home. I also got an exclusive color Nogaro Blue which is only 1 of a few built that color. I ordered it that way. It gets a ton of attention in traffic, car shows, gas stations, etc. Sometimes too much attention. Next car will be an R8 or Huracan. Gotta keep that same sound. Yes STI is a great bargain, but it’s also made a lot lot cheaper. I do paint correction on them and film. Panels are flimsy and paint is cheap as hell. Way too thin. Great AWD system though. Fit and finish between the two are a huge difference. Build quality is also a huge difference. That’s what you are paying for. Also the 5 cylinder is literally half of the V10 found in the R8 and Huracan. Same guys hand build the 5 cylinder. Hence why they sound the same and make so much dam power with a tune. Audi only did the Exclusive colors in 2018. You can’t get custom colors anymore for 2019. So I got lucky. My value will hold pretty good. It’s definitely a head turner. Exclusive colors can be picked from most VW, Audi, Porsche, and some Lamborghini colors. The blue I chose goes back to the Nogaro Blue from the RS2 days. Best Audi color ever. I wanted to keep the heritage of the RS.

  11. John Donofrio I had a Golf R before and I loved it a lot, but hated the sound of the 4 cylinder. It was a great driving car though. Once I got the RS3, it felt like a totally different beast. A stage 2 R is pretty much a stock RS3. A stage 2 RS3 is a beast on the road. Not much will touch you on the streets. The sound is phenomenal. I wanted a GTR in the beginning, especially after driving a bunch of them. Problem is trying to find one not beat. It’s also older technology inside too. Plus cops hate them with a passion. All my friends get followed all the time. Cops don’t really know what the RS3 is yet.

  12. John Donofrio The whole diesel was a pain, but not one owner lost out. They made out phenomenal. They gave my friend 18k to buyback a 5k car. My other friend had a diesel Q7 and played hardball with Audi. He got an RS3 with trade and only paid half price. I wish I had a diesel for them to buy back. Jealous. I think the RS3 will hold up extremely well. Hank Iroz is running 1000 hp with a built block. Only broke a driveshaft. He’s running 8.8. I always had manuals and was not thrilled the RS3 was only DSG. But after driving it, I fell in love. It’s got the same feeling as driving an exotic with paddles. Launch control is a blast. I love racing my friend in his Hellcat from a light. He hates me. 😂 The car costs a lot because of the engine and transmission. Funny thing is how Audi detuned it to 400hp. Just a tune wakes these cars right up. E85 takes it to a whole new level. Before this car, I would have not bought an Audi. I got it cause of the amazing engine. It’s Audi’s best car. It was the car that they wouldn’t ship to the US. They had the hatchback in the UK for years, but not available in US. Now they are bringing over the new RS6 Avant. The Unicorn!

  15. There are many for sale. Many are trading them in because the transmission and transfer cases are blowing up. Watch videos on it. So Acura is gonna discontinue it as it’s not a good seller. Too many warranty jobs on them. MDX is having issues as well. The splines they used on transfer cases are weak. They need to upgrade the gears. Not sure if they will. That’s another reason why you see a lot of them for sale after they got fixed. Too bad. They drive amazing!

  19. They charge 81k for this overpriced truck. I looked at one yesterday and was highly disappointed. At first I thought it was cool looking until I seen the price with a boring interior and crap engine. I agree. A big zonk! 👍 They are trying to hard to make a Raptor competitor and haven’t even come close. It’s a night and day difference. The 5.3 is also a letdown.

  21.  @user54huhifck57 The Highlander is a huge letdown with 4 cylinder. It also feels a lot cheaper made. Toyota definitely cheaper out. You pay a lot for that badge. Passport feels well built with a much better V6. Better handling too by a lot.

  22.  @asplmn problem with 5th gen 4Runners are they right awful. Horrible nose dive. Unstable on highway. Sluggish engine and transmission. Loose steering. Gets jittery over bumps because it’s full frame. Passport drives like a luxury vehicle. Handles great and best in class. Amazing in highway and 10 times safer in an accident. Night and day difference on highway. New 4Runner looks spectacular. Problem is it’s hard to get in back seat. The ingress, egress is a chore. You need to bend your body to get in and out. Not family friendly and is harder for an older person. New 4Runner interior is a lot smaller, all the added space went into slanting the windshield to be more aerodynamic. Back seats are crammed. For a daily that can conquer trails (not rock crawling) the Passport wins. It also looks amazing in orange, red, and green. Interior room is massive. Has flat load floors. It’s wider and back seats have a ton of stretching room. Honda nailed this one out of the park. The V6 sounds and feels good. They also have amazing wheel design now on Elite and HPD wheels. The brown Cognac interior is perfect looking.

  31.  @porfiriato84 VW was always about ergonomics and easy operation. No looking and know where everything is with ease. Only physical buttons allow that. VW even admits they made a mistake on this model. Next model, they will go back to physical buttons. Also haptic feedback buttons are a bad trend in a vehicle. Ferrari did it and nothing but issues too. More complaints.

  36. Bulbs yes. But companies don’t just put in LED bulbs. They manufacture whole LED modules. When they need to be replaced, it’s 500 and up for each one. So be happy Honda didn’t change it. You can buy LED bulbs for cheap.

  39. I don’t see Jetta looking side at all. I have an RS3 and friends with new Jettas and they are totally different. It’s interior is a timeless design. What Audi was going after. The classic 5 cylinder days. Lots of tech inside though. Everything is placed in the best place. Driving my other car is a BMW and I now hate that car. So awkward.

  40. Cheaper to replace bulbs with LED. Be glad Honda didn’t replace whole module with LED built in unit. When you need to replace it, it’s 500 per unit. So be happy Honda didn’t R&D it to screw over customers.

  45.  @DYIguy  I did have a 95 Cobra Mustang and that was awesome. I did have a coupe diesel Ford trucks that were good. I got lucky. The Fords these days are not great. Lots of 10 speed transmission all going bad. I had my buddies Bronco Raptor for two weeks and for 100k, I wasn’t impressed. I can get an Audi SQ8 for that same price and 500hp and superb handling with the biggest smile on your face. American cars still don’t excite me. For electric cars, I’m not thrilled with any of them. I’m still in love with fast gasoline vehicles.

  48. XSE Camry is 45k. Its leather seats are also hard as a rock and very uncomfortable. Camry is better for overweight Americans.

  50. You are right! The sound from a Honda 4 cylinder is just not there. The new one will be a nice car and I like the body much better than previous, but it’s 4 cylinder sound is a killjoy! May upgrade my RS3 into the new style RS3.
