Hybrids are better. It gives options to have both. Bigger batteries are needed though. More power too. Electric cars have more power. They have a huge leg up over hybrids with more power. Plug in hybrids are the best. Longer range and makes use of having solar panels. You still have gas engine in emergency.

2.0 T sales were poor. More people bought the 1.5 crappy engine. My older sister bought hers as a retirement gift to herself. She did research and only wanted a 2.0. She got 5k off as an outgoing model. She hated the new style and hated the words hybrid. 2.0’s are only desirable to modders looking for last turbo accord ever made in history. If Honda still has them, sales would be slow. People just want what they can’t buy anymore. Same goes for covid days. People paid over 10k for 4Runners because they thought the apocalypse was coming after being locked in the house watching The Walking Dead. A year later they realized it’s a horrible daily driver. Now Toyota is still charging huge premium for them and barely selling now. Hype sells any product.

The biggest issue with 2.0 accord in tuning it was the lack of grip. No LSD and no AWD. 350 hp in them is useless. Plus the 10 speeds would crap out and Honda would void warranty for being modded. This hurt sales a lot. A civic with a 2.0t AWD would have been perfect. That’s never gonna happen now. The hybrids are great driving cars. Just need a little more power. 300 would make them perfect daily car that would sell to a lot of car enthusiasts for a daily commuter. Honda needs a new marketing team and development team. They could own the market if they thought big.

Camry looks excellent. Accord is ugly. Accord drives better though.

2.0T is never coming back. They are going all hybrid. Type R is going away too.

TLX S is going away because too many failures with transfer case gears blowing up and can’t tune easily. It’s a big car with small interior. Too many have been traded back in with issues. SI is phasing out too after parts are all put into cars and sold. Its 1.5 crappy engine has slowed sales down a lot. Acura and Honda hates the tuners group. It costs them too much to warranty. Honda is doing much better now with sales of hybrids on civics, CRV’s, and Accords. Its hybrid engine is a great drivetrain for a daily driver and that’s all they care about. It’s their bread and butter drivetrain. Type R will fade away soon. Honda will now focus on building parts in US and no more Japan. Hybrids will be their goal. It’s sad that there will be no more manuals. Manual sales have kept falling all over America on all makes. Prelude is coming as a hybrid only. No manual or turbo. I wish Honda would focus on a 300 hp hybrid for specialty cars. 0-60 in under 5 seconds. AWD performance too.

Most people want the high performance Hondas come back. The problem is 99 percent of those people have no money. The people who want the hybrids are 90 percent of their buyers. The accord is ugly. It’s atrocious! It does drive good and I will give it that. But it’s ugly. The 1.5 versions won’t sell. It’s ugly. I drove the new civic hybrid Touring and it drives great. I might lease one for my business. Keep the miles off my nice cars.

Honda got rid of it because the modders were ruining their name. People stopped buying Hondas because it became a gangsters car and a high theft car. So the 2.0 was a tuners dream. So Honda cut it. The hybrid gave owners big gains in fuel. So owners were happy. Now the style became ugly. That way young thugs would hate it. Average people didn’t care about looks. Civic is going same way. Honda doesn’t want to associate with riced out cars anymore. The Tyoe R was made more sophisticated and more expensive. This pushed out the bad crowds and brought in money collectors. Honda faked their own upselling over msrp and some fell for it. Smart educated people walked out the door at msrp.
