also heated seats and full digital dash. US customers got shafted.

Huge market at 40k though.

@AnthonyCessor The only thing that could force Toyota to not do it along with BMW is lack of manufacturing. They are so far behind in producing parts. If things do get delayed, the ideas may get scrapped due to electric car being the next R&D.

@Asiansxsymbol Golf R has a new rear axle and new electronics for more power to be sent to rear wheels. Type R has it beat in weight though. The new RS3 will have even a better rear axle putting a lot more power down to rotate the car. That 5 cylinder engine is a dream. Tune and fuel makes it a true power house. New type R will most likely see a bump in power to 320 hp and remain front drive. Honda is so far behind in production. It may hinder the production of the Type R. Seeing that the SI dropped options on US models, and also putting in a weak clutch is not a good sign for Honda. They are skimping out. Also look at the new Integra. It’s an abortion. Honda is caring more about electric cars as days go on. ICE cars are coming to an end and manufacturing will start pushing to electric as they hire new workers.

The Integra will be a flop.

Biggest problem in Honda is manufacturing as it’s with other companies too. They are so far behind on production, that it may hurt the type R being built. Most likely it will be a 320 HP front drive version of the SI with a tad more flare.

They won’t ever do that. Too technical for Toyota to work on.

@M_is_for_Monty BMW can barely make enough for their M cars as they are so far behind in production. They definitely will not put an M engine in a mass produced car that’s not a true BMW M car. It will never happen. Toyota will also never allow such a complicated engine over the simple B58. S58 is a lot more complicated. Cost is another huge factor too. Supra will be lucky if they even can get a manual transmission. That may even get pushed back now.

@M_is_for_Monty You can’t compare an F1 to a Zupra 🤣 BMW won’t do it with Supra. Plus M fans would be pissed. The whole Toyota/BMW deal was to share the Z platform. Unless they make a Z4m, it won’t happen with Supra. Go try ordering an M2/3/4. Orders are so far delayed out. BMW is having a hard time with M engine production. They sold more than they can produce. Plus B58 can be modded more than car can handle. Sounds better too. A manual is a must for that type of car, even though I hate BMW manuals.

@Arayig1982 a PDK will kill a manual on track. It’s precise shifting and working in harmony with ECU is flawless. Manuals are amazing fun, but put a lot of stress on parts. Every time you drop that clutch hard, it jackhammers every part from suspension, mounts, and gears. PDK is so seemless and ultra fast. A lot less stress on parts.

The GR will be more fun.

@vagabond1776 Problem is Type R will only have 320 hp and be front drive. Modding it more will result in a horrific 4 cylinder sound. I liked driving my friends R’s, but the sound with exhaust is annoying. Now the Golf R has a lot more rear bias on new MK8 models. It will make track use a lot of fun. The best news is the RS3 will have the new rear bias set up too. Car is gonna be bonkers. I have an 18 RS3, and it’s blazing fast with simple mods. 4 years with it and hasn’t missed a beat. I beat on it hardcore. Best car I’ve owned out of 100 plus cars in 35 years of car ownership.
1
@vagabond1776 I would take the GR over Type R too. It will be a rare unique car. Should sound bad ass too.
1
@TheJapfanboy You should drive a Porsche GT4 or GTS 4.0 Caymen, or even better a GT3. Now those make amazing NA sounds. Such precision! Then you also have a Ford GT350/R. That’s probably the best V8 sound.
1
@TheJapfanboy Once you drive one, everything else is ruined.
1
It may even stop production of these special models. They can’t even build regular cars now.

Start of production.

Honda won’t do AWD or a DCT. Honda is having major issues with manufacturing. Look at how slim their inventory is everywhere. They just marked up all their used cars. Dealers are hurting. No inventory because manufacturing is dead. This will mean no more R&D for a while.
1
@Striker50_ It’s definitely their last R model. They may just use parts from parts bin and put on new body. That’s all they have the budget for.
