  1. B58 is an awesome design engine. It’s also different then the past B58 engines. The new M340 and Supra share the same upgrades. It’s not the same as the 240/340 in last years models. It also has better fueling for tuning potential.

  2. It will with a tune and some bolt ons for a ton cheaper. One is in the 10’s already with a tune and ethanol. It’s only the beginning. Both the NSX and GTR need work to be in the 10’s. Supra will be in the 9’s soon. Stock block and transmission are capable of a lot of power.

  3. My friends new NSX does 10.6 with mods. The Supra with tune and fuel did 10.9. That’s only the beginning. For a third of the price.

  8. K Vo You call it cheap ass Supra, but it’s faster, much better handling, better quality, 100 times better fit and finish. Take both to a track and the cheap ass Supra will kill it stock for stock. Too many people associate the Supra with a modded version in their head. I worked on the original ones and everything was typical 90’s quality. Fit and finish were 1000’s times worst than Tesla. Paint was absolute garbage. Interior feels like a base model rental truck interior. The 2JZ was it’s strong point after putting 10k into it. It could handle high horsepower after you built the engine. I just feel they should have made it a manual. Keep that heritage anyway. But they know the R&D to make the car manual would result in a loss of profit to sell only a 1000 of them. If that.

  9. K Vo The NSX and GTR are expensive cause it cost them a fortune to build the factory to build them. The more they sell, the cheaper the prices. The less they sell, the higher the prices. Look at the GTR prices. Started out at 100k 12 years ago. They didn’t sell many neither. Not the numbers of what a production car should be to pay for costs. Now it’s 200k and they barely sell a couple hundred a year. Let’s face it. Sports cars are not big sellers. So low production numbers need to charge more to make a profit. Toyota lost on the last Supra it made in the 90’s. Didn’t sell well even at 50k, so the plug was pulled.

  10. K Vo Chevy can sell the Vette cheap cause they sell a ton of them. They have had a following for 7 decades. They out numbered the Supra sales back in the day too. Guys wanted a real mans V8 instead of a 6 cylinder Supra. Vette guys it’s all about bragging rights of who’s got a bigger engine. Chevy has been building small blocks for decades. It’s cheap and easy for them. Once you get options, it will cost 75-95k, depends on what you get. So it’s not the 60k like everyone thought. Nobody can mass produce a car like GM. They will get vette owners, sports car buyers, exotic car buyers, etc. It will be the number one sports car on the streets. You might start seeing way too many of them. It will not be a unique car. Ford is another company that just slaps cars together. It’s quality is just so so. The fit and finish along with the quality compared to the new Supra is night and day difference. The mustangs just don’t age well as a daily driver car. Ford paint sucks too. I went German cars 3 years ago and glad I did. Comfortable, fast, AWD, and excellent build with excellent fit and finish. Yes it costs more money than American cars, but it’s worth it to me. Hopefully GM has great quality on the new C8. Japanese companies can’t build fast cheap cars. It cost them too much money. They don’t have the resources like American car companies. Another big thing for Chevy, Ford, and Dodge is that they build a ton of truck for a ton of profit. They can take some of that profit and put it into R&D.

  11. K Vo Also the technology BMW uses is expensive. The NSX is very expensive technology. The GTR drivetrain is expensive too. They use less displacement to get high horsepower. They use turbos to get the added power. For example, the B58 is detuned from the factory. Add a tune and it really opens them up. Add a bigger turbo and you’re over 600 hp. GM LT2 is maxed out from the factory. If you want more power, you need to spend some serious money on power adders. You can’t just tune it. You will need to drop the engine and add cam and heads, but idle will be rough. Sounds coool though. You will need to drop the engine and add a supercharger or add twin turbos. Not cheap at all. So if you want to build a low 10 second car, you will get there faster and cheaper with the Supra. Under 5k and it’s much easier to do. A C8 will cost 20k minimum easily. It all depends on your goal. So in reality, you could get a Supra and tune it to go low 10’s for under 65 k. A C8 you will be at 100k if you are lucky. So when you say cheap easy horsepower from the Vette, I say no. You’re maxed at 500. Turbo cars are easy. Tune and fuel go a long way. Add a bigger turbo and the sky is the limit. 800 hp kits will be available soon. The little B58 engine can handle it.

  12. Depends on what you want. The Supra gives you more flexibility for tuning. You can have it running low 10’s much easier and a lot cheaper. A tune, DP, and some E85. You can also upgrade the turbo to jump into the 9’s. A little over 5k. A C8 is maxed out cause it’s naturally aspirated. You will need to drop the engine on a lift, add supercharger or twin turbos. You’re looking at an easy 30k. So next spring, you will see a lot of Supras spanking C8’s at the 1/4 mile. So far, the block looks like it’s capable of 1000 hp. So the Supra is a tuners dream. The C8 is the sports car you drive the way it is. Stock C8 should run low 11’s.

  15. The newest rework of the B58 is awesome! 600 hp will be easy and right around the corner. They will be tearing up Hellcats soon.
