In a nutshell:
--In Canada, there are no gun rights. Licensed privilege only, very strictly controlled.
--Pistols allowed only at ranges. No exceptions.
--No carry of any kind, ever, no exceptions, not even unloaded. Must be locked up and un-accessible when in transit, remove gun from trunk of car ONLY at the range
--Guns can be confiscated by the police at any time, for no reason, even with no history of crime, squeaky-clean life, related to Mother Theresa etc. etc. etc.
They will NOT pay you for them, they just take them, and it's your problem. You will NOT get them back, ever. No criminal charges, no court order etc. necessary.
--Owning a gun in Canada will put you on "police watch" for the rest of your life. They will track your every move and know more than YOU do about your personal life.
With the exception of hunting, guns in Canada are essentially dangerous toys and nothing more. You may NOT defend yourself with one. Doing so is a far bigger criminal offense than whatever your attacker does to you--including attempting to kill you.

So, what you're saying here, is that if you regularly clean and maintain your Chea-Pass (oh sorry, I meant, Hi-Point) pistol, it's actually a really great defensive weapon because it's extremely durable and reliable?
Frankly, the whole driving-over-it thing made it look like you were trying to destroy it. With very expensive guns, people clean, oil and generally maintain them meticulously, so they're going to be pretty reliable if they're decently made. But, this puppy can be neglected and abused and still works.
Looks like a fantastic-quality piece to me. Any other thoughts? How about putting 1,000 rounds through it and report back to us?
