@jimbotron70 Or by counting the cop cars in the rear view mirror and seeing how long they stay there :)

Tedward, above about 4,000 RPM these cars are basically non-sequential anyway. The two turbos work together in parallel. It's only sequential below that RPM to reduce turbo lag and flatten the torque curve by using all of the exhaust gas to power only one of the turbos. We have a 1993 FD in the garage, we've had it for many, many years now. Almost 100% stock. I wish we could get around to fixing it up a little, it probably needs a new intake manifold gasket (front rotor inhales coolant, but no exhaust gas in the coolant reservoir.) These are lovely machines, nothing else quite like 'em.

I guess that he didn't understand that fundamentally a car is a car, it doesn't matter if it's Italian or not.

This is what's referred to as a "classic motor vehicle" :)

Starts like a rotary :)

They are not 'bulletproof.' These cars were an enormous amount of maintenance and repairs even when brand new. It's possible the Series 5 (1989-1992) cars were a bit better. Lovely cars but the build quality was shit. They are hobbyists' cars and were not buy-and-drive dailies even when new. I bought my '87 Turbo II when it was 10 years old and drove it to work for years.

1:33 Awesome that someone out there can start a manual car from a standstill without winding it up to 3-4K RPM first! It sounds like you barely gave it any gas at all and the engine was barely above idle speed when the car started to roll. Nice work! I know it's rather trivial but danged if anyone bothers learning to do it. Even reversing in a parking lot most people will have the damn engine at half way to the redline.

No shit, if it's not your car you don't start it cold and sit there gunning the fuck out of the engine. You don't reverse by winding it up to 3-4K RPM and slipping the fuck out of the clutch. You don't drive it like you're angry at it and angry at the world. Hell, you don't do childish nonsense like that even if it IS your own car. Careful respectful driving while still enjoying it = Coolest of all!
