  2. I'm Canadian, and I used to think that Russia was cool! There was a kind of mystery to them, a mystique if you will. They were so much like Canada--a developing country struggling in many ways, but surviving nonetheless. But, I guess the Russian government are just a bunch of warmongering fuckwit psychopaths after all. As if the world doesn't have enough wars, they have to start another. Fucking losers.

  6. The concept of "Ghost Guns" is irrelevant in the USA, they're making too much of a fuss over it. A gun owned by a US Citizen isn't a bigger deal just because it was made by themselves, versus one that was made by somebody else. You have that right, and it comes from the weapons owned by the citizens themselves--not from the government.

  7. I guess it's not the most politically correct thing to say, but are the Taliban really all that much worse than the "legitimate" Afghan government (such as it is?) In other words, NATO jumps ship and the Taliban completely take over. How is that any worse? Was the original Afghan government any less psychopathic than the Taliban? Now, the US government can find better things to do with their 10s of trillions of dollars, such as fixing things back home. Potholes, urban blight, general deterioration of infrastructure, working poor, gang fights, devilishly expensive healthcare, that sort of thing. Why waste that kind of cash on Afghanistan? It's a total shithole. Why the hell would anyone ever want to live there in the first place let alone have a family there? It isn't the USA's problem, let alone all of NATO! The only problem is if the terrorists end up controlling enough of the oil wealth to develop their own in-house nuclear weapons. Then we're all totally fucked.

  8. If you're not the sort that willingly, even cheerfully, marches to your own death just for the sake of politics, then you probably shouldn't join the armed forces! The soldiers themselves are only doing as they're told--which is, of course, how things work in the military. You can't join up and then expect to make your own decisions based on ethics, because that's not how military life works. There's a chain of command. Disregarding orders will be considered high treason and the Russian government will execute them.

  11. They can't do that, the Russian government will have them executed for high reason. When you join the Armed Forces, you are not you anymore. You are not a person, you are now government property and the sole purpose of your existence is to take orders. You are merely a thing, like a rifle or tank, not a person. That's how it works--it's how wars are fought, and it's done that way for a reason. "Ours is not to reason why, ours is but to do as we are told or be executed for high treason." In the military you do NOT think. You only do as you are told. That's why some people love it so much.
