  5. She had some really catchy pop songs. Pop artists usually ignore that part, and that's what made her special. :) It kind of goes with the territory, but far too much emphasis is always placed on looks, clothes, hairstyles etc. and hardly any on singing decent tunes. That's why she stood out.

  13. I find it very hard to believe that any modern fighter would end up as a 'turkey'. They already know how it will perform and handle before they build the first prototype! Aero engineering is not a shot in the dark--they already know what they're building even before they actually build the first one. I'd assume everyone knows that, but if you didn't, now you do. They're not going to build junk, especially not at that cost. That being said, the unit cost certainly is insane. You'd think they'd just refine and update the already outstanding F-16 fighter design, and build fresh ones. A bit of modernization and you have a world-class fighter good for decades--better engine, radar, that full-visibility helmet, radar-absorbent coating, and you're good to go--at what, about 1/4 of the cost of the F-35?

  16. Really? I've never, ever seen it in anything else. From Quebec, moved to Ontario in late '80s. I never even thought about "bagged" milk since not once in my 43 years have I ever seen it come in anything else, except rarely, those cardboard cartons--which are only used for emergencies when the regular stuff runs out and you need a coffee :)

  19. It isn't. But, it might be, so that's why our troops and pilots are over there, hammering the living snot out of the terrorists. They've probably dropped so many bombs in Afghanistan over the past couple decades now, that the whole country looks like the ass end of the moon. Just dust and craters everywhere. Shredded tents with dead terrorists' skeletons and camel guts splattered as far as the eye can see. I'm not sure how there are any terrorists left in Afghanistan, since both Canada and the USA have been bombing it halfway to Pluto over the years.

  28. Now that weed is legal in Canada, nothing has changed whatsoever. The people that like weed always smoked it, and the people that didn't smoke it didn't start just because it's legal. No difference at all. Some fools drive around when they're blitzed, but they've always done that--they're just dumb enough to think it's legal now, because weed is legal. It's not--it's still Impaired Driving.

  31. Pacifist? Canada has been involved in armed conflicts in the Middle East for decades. We're a member of NATO, and Canuck troops and combat pilots regularly fight alongside Americans in Afghanistan, Iraq, and other terrorist shitholes. Operating the Canadian Armed Forces is the single most expensive thing that Canada has ever done. We're also about to spend maybe 15-20 Billion dollars, possibly more, on new fighter jets for the Canadian Air Force. That's a hell of a lot of bread for a country with the population of Canada. Pacifist my ass, we're warmongers :)

Not even a businessman that started out with nothing, got a job pumping gas, and use his brains and his wits to become a self-made multi-millionaire. Hell, not even a garden-variety lawyer or generic Joe Government Worker moving up through the ranks. Fuck, not even a good plumber or auto mechanic that did something useful and necessary in society before making his way into government. A fucking high school drama teacher.
