  1. Bureaucracy, and even money itself, don't fix anything in space, but duct tape might be useful from time to time. So, which is the more significant invention? :)

  2. I doubt it, it would be more worthwhile getting to Mars rather than re-hashing moon flights that were done half a century ago. I'm not against or anything, but it's already been done. I suppose they could colonize the moon if they wanted to, though. It's still a better use of enormous amounts of money than having more wars :)

  3. I'm pretty sure the guy's claim to fame is his mind, not his teeth or any other aspect of his appearance. If NASA only ever hired people for their appearance, they'd never be able to launch a water rocket.

  4. You're half right. Russia was the first country to sent a man into orbit, but they never sent anyone to the moon.

  5. ??? What do you mean, 'lost' it? If they wanted to do it again, it wouldn't be anywhere near as difficult. Nothing was lost. They don't fly to the moon anymore because it's very dangerous and expensive, not because they couldn't figure out how to do it again!

  6.  @rockethead7  Technology is knowledge. It's not the physical artifacts, such as engines, hulls, guidance computers etc. etc. Technology isn't physical things--it's the knowledge of how to build things and make things work. If they wanted to build another moon rocket, it would be a big, expensive project, but it would be much easier today than it was in the 1960s. None of the technology was "lost", it has been developed and improved. There's no need for archaic devices like the Saturn V or the old moon landers, anything built today would be better, more reliable, and probably even cheaper. They don't go back to the moon because it's expensive and very dangerous, not because the knowledge of how to do it was lost! They know more about it today than they ever did! Frankly, it would probably be fairly easy today, but still dangerous, and they've already gone, so why bother? The goal today is getting to Mars one day, not to the moon--been there, done that, move on.

  7. There's nothing much there for us to go back to. It was done for the human adventure, and frankly, for the USA to show off to the Russians. They didn't go to to the moon because there was anything there we could use for anything--it's a big ball of dust and rocks, and there's plenty of that down here on Earth :)
