Agreed, however, keep those of us with mobility issues in mind. I can walk, but not distances. A car is an absolute necessity if I'm going more than a couple of blocks.

The transformation was amazing. I would love to see this happen in the US. However, the 15-minute city concept is a slippery slope and I believe could eventually turn very oppressive.

I'm also in the US. Sydney, Australia is also an excellent example of mixing old and new architecture. In some ways, the two styles brought out the beauty of the other. The planning was well thought out and created a vibrant, but soft, comfortable place.

@Fluxwux I'm in the US and can't walk more than a few blocks. I agree about the accessibility issue. However, we need to do a better job of making our cities more beautiful. My husband and I travel A LOT. All over the country, we see the same problem. We are a wealthy country that looks like a poor country. Exposed power lines, carwashes, convenience stores. There's no cohesion or permanence. Large cities like New York are filthy and social problems are on full display.

@eazydee5757 I have to disagree with car-centric being ableist. I wouldn't be able to do most things without my car. It isn't an either/or discussion. I was in Amsterdam recently. They had plenty of people walking, driving, and biking. There is no reason we can't design cities that take the needs of all people into consideration.

@johnbahler It's expensive because it's so rare. If more cities adopted this philosophy, the costs would be reduced.

@LalaDepala_00 What places aren't accessible. We have a law called the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) which requires buildings to be accessible, sloped street corners (for wheelchairs), handicapped bathroom stalls, etc.
