  2. Why does the black part of the black hole always seem to be facing us? Is that because if it isn't facing us we wouldn't know it's a black hole? Edit: Also, why isn't the accretion disk's light completely warped all around the black hole, thus making it look like a star?

  3.  @thedeemon  Not from the centre, more like a shell around it I mean. Why doesn't the light warp around all over the place instead of in specific planes relative to us?
