  1. To be fair the Houthis haven't declared a war on global shipping as you said. They've declared a war on Israeli shipping. Words matter.

  2. To make this happen we're firing 2.3 million dollar missiles to intercept $2,000 dollar drones. Not the best of tradeoffs for us, not to mention it isn't sustainable because to rearming these ships with these missiles is no easy task. So then the question is what to do? Well the Houthis have made it quite clear they're only interested in Vessels either headed to Israel or owned by Israel. I'm sure these shipping companies and the Houthis can negotiate a way for the shipping companies to prove certain ships aren't' headed to Israel. Problem solved for world shipping. If Israel wants to break the blockade put on them specifically, they can go do it themselves.

  3. That would accomplish nothing. Essentially US consumers would be stuck footing the bill.

  4.  @stepkah4742  It doesn't matter if they ship or not. The Houthi statement was quite clear. Anything going in and out of Israel. Any ship tied to Israel. It is akin to the sanctions on Russian shipping. They just aren't as good at enforcing it. Not global, very targeted. So yes, words matter.

  6. I'm not so sure this is true. This idea that we're safeguarding the British or even European interests. That could have easily been done because the Houthis have shown a willingness to allow any ship not connected to Israel through.

  10. To be fair they're in much better condition than the little kids in Gaza being targeted by a modern military force. Which is what is causing all these shenanigans to begin with.
