I find this one of the most fascinating wars in history. Imagine attacking a nation which no longer has an army and still losing?
2300
@drillxedit No Idea but if I had to guess I doubt they teach it. Just like the Greeks don't teach how they ethnically cleansed anyone who wasn't Greek orthodox in the lands they recovered from the Ottomans. Especially when they invaded Anatolia, few civilians in villages their army went through survived. Or how with their support the majority group on Cyprus went on a massive ethnic cleansing spree on Cyprus in the 1960s and 70s. The cookie cutter cuts both ways.
24
@proud_greek223 Or maybe because I'm not a Greek or Turk I can look at the situation without bias?
17
@panklo05 A massive counter attack, taking 10s of thousands of prisoners and pushing an invading army into the sea is the definition of a battlefield win.
15
@throckmorton4673 No they actually don't when they have signed treaties that they won't in specific areas. You sign treaties and break treaties while using islands up the coast of another nation as weapons and you're shocked they're not happy? I'm not saying you should or shouldn't be aggressor against your neighbor or that you should or shouldn't be breaking treaties you signed. Greece is a sovereign nation and they're free to do as they wish. What I am saying is don't be shocked or play the victim when your neighbor reacts to this.
14
@throckmorton4673 I'd imagine that is how most nations would react if you start using islands as weapons so close to another nation's shores. Either way I have no horse in this race. If these two nations want to go to war over this that is their call. I just find the weaker nation being the aggressor here to be surreal.
13
@panklo05 The Greek army not supplied for months was still better equipped than the army that beat them. You had two nations economically ruined Turkey being ruined worse. Two armies which weren't being supplied, Turkey lacking supplies on average of 10x worse. These two armies collided and the side with more money and more material got walloped. Strange situation.
11
@bros_gr I didn't forget. Even with all that the advantage in money and material was huge. So imagine how much worse it was before the events you mentioned came to fruition. Fact of the matter is this is one of the biggest mysteries in military history. that baffles many people.
11
@russianinvader3207 He might be a troll but I'm sure the entire world will agree with me when I say Russian trolls are more prolific and a lot more famous.
11
@kossllan6144 You seem to have a very warped view on what is happening between these two nations. If you keep poking someone in the eye, they will react. So the real question is why Greece feels it is in their strategic interest to poke their larger neighbor in the eye, what are they hoping to achieve aside from causing a reaction?
10
Only Greece can invade a defeated nation whos lost most of it's fighting age men, has really nothing left to eat, has no army and still loses. Greece lol
8
@Satanas, I'd imagine it's the same in their country. They teach the atrocities you guys did and ignore their own. Although from my experience they don't seem as vengeful against you guys as you guys do against them. And no I don't agree that both sides didn't learn from this. That generation did. Now they're all though and the current crop of people have seemed to have forgotten those lessons. Either way the way things look these two nations will be going to war again and it won't be pretty.
7
The odd thing is the Greeks are currently trying to make another push into the Aegean and Med sea. I'd imagine it will turn out like this turned out.
7
@savabout6487 And what exactly do you think would have happened to the other 80% of inhabitants of Constantinople if the Greeks were given the city?
7
@russianinvader3207 I haven't made one trollish comment. Things don't become so just because you claim they do. Besides what are you doing here? Shouldn't you be in Bakhmut or something? lol
7
@ThrE3-GeS It isn't when the army has been disbanded and you recruit a bunch of old men to rebuild from scratch. So yea, not an army at all. At least not one any rational person would call an army. Not that it matters, they were fighting the Greeks lol
6
@fwrususes5125 Since the Turks won the war, they aren't in a position to use that internal struggle as an excuse to being wrecked on the battlefield. So for the Greeks, it works for them.
5
@georgemilas6313 So essentially your contention is that anytime someone points out facts they're bias? Is reality itself bias against you as well? Is that your argument? If that is your argument you're in A LOT of trouble
4
@nadiapapadopoulo471 Having 14 million vs 4.5 million is not an easy task. But you know when it becomes easy? When that 14 million is completely bankrupt from war, has barely any weapons left and most of their fighting age men are already dead. Again imagine invading a country that has no military left and losing is something very few nations could achieve.
4
@oboi650 You'd be surprised what percentage of the population in both nations are thinking war with their neighbor is a great idea. Most nations have their fair share of idiots. Look at your youtube name for god's sake. America won't be spared this fate either.

Some things never change.

@Giorgio Ciaravovol, Do you feel ashamed at all that your grand grandpa crossed an ocean to murder civilians and enslave/rob people?
2
@AimForMyHead81 Why would I feel ashamed? Are you one of those people who get to a point they can't debate a point and then delve into nonsensical personal theories? If you don't like what I'm saying, why don't you actually try to debate it like a normal human being? Is it something in the water over there where it makes you guys irrational?
2
@chrisbailey7550 Comparable population yes, comparable military equipment and fighting aged men? No. This was literally a nation which had no army left after years of fighting.
2
@FIRE-zt6vw I'd imagine your adversaries feel the same exact way .
2
@xnikolasbs2230 Really Greece isn't pushing anything? You sure about that?
2
@xnikolasbs2230 Fighting is one thing, constantly poking them in the eye is another. I'd imagine Greece is under the full belief it can continue to push Turkey into a corner because it feels it has full protection being an EU member. Again, I'd imagine this isn't a wise policy for the reasons you mentioned above. Greece arming islands which it signed a treaty it would never arm is poking your neighbor in the eye. Especially when some of those islands are a stones throw from their shores. Using said islands to block a large nation out of a body of water which it has a huge coast is another case of poking your neighbor in the eye. It is these two main issues which are causing all the tension in the region. Like I said earlier, I have a feeling in the long term it's going to end up very similar to what happened in Cyprus. Turkey is going to react, western powers will condemn but do nothing, Greece gets pummeled. This looks like the most likely road Greece is walking on.

@dimitrislm5935 Cool story bro.
2
@kossllan6144 So you support the side which is aggressive and recently took part in modern day ethnic cleansing, the sort of cleansing which rarely happens since the early 1900s? So like your claim earlier on someone else, you support evil?
1
@3three3 Well either way I hope the globalists don't drag this country into war. They have enough problems as it is. Would be sad to see them be the next Ukraine.
1
@Yr OBT SVT, I legit almost spit out my drink from laughing when I read this comment. That Tom & Jerry meme 🤣🤣
1
@gnas1897 Cool story.
1
@xnikolasbs2230 Cyprus?
1
@gytoser801 That's odd, they said the same thing during the time of this video.
1
@gytoser801 Using islands to push a nation which has a huge coast of a body of water is an extremely aggressive move. Not saying you should or shouldn't do it. Just saying don't be shocked when they react. This isn't about sounding wise or not sounding wise. This is about simple reality. You don't push your neighbor into a corner unless you're sure you're stronger than them if they react. So for your sake, I hope you guys know what you're doing because this won't end well. My only fear is our insane leaders here who will use any opportunity to drag us into a conflict. If it does happen, hopefully it's simply you vs them.
1
@apmoy70 Yea because anyone who doesn't agree with your point of view must be from X ethnic group. Right.
1
@AimForMyHead81 What is it with some people where anytime someone doesn't agree with their insane worldview that person must be from "X ethnic group." Do you have any idea how ridiculous that is?
1
@fun2222 English please.
1
Alexandros Chousakos, I'm not sure I'd use the word awe inspiring to describe a campaign to attack your neighbor and engage in ethnic cleansing. If you find such a thing aw inspiring, I pity to think how you'd describe an old woman being pushed down the stairs. "A great bit of fun." ?
1
@vasilispouloudis9350 It doesn't seem like that is how it's going to play out. The Greek government still dreams of the Megali Idea or some part of it and the Turkish government still dreams of wielding Ottoman level influence. Those two things cannot go exist, one must destroy the other. Grab your popcorn because it's about to go down.
1
"A fight between a monkey and a dog" ahahhahah
1
@sugtos7026 WHen you attack a country which no longer has a military it shouldn't take as long as it did, long enough to run out of ammunition. Also for history buffs all the statistics are widely available on what kind of firepower each side had. The Brits stopped resupplying the Greeks when they realized what an utter shitshow their military was. Before that they armed the Greeks to the teeth for the invasion, assuming they could defeat a nation which no longer had a military. Yes, the British government ended up with egg on their faces for that one. Pretty embarrassing situation for all parties involved I'd imagine.
