There is nothing for the UN mission to do. Now or earlier. Well maybe back in the 1990s it would have done some good when Armenia was mass slaughtering Azeris to the tune of ethnically cleansing 800,000 of them. A UN mission then might have helped. What is the point in this recent conflict?
1
@Julia-Richter How exactly is Nato going to admit a nation which is in a collective defense organization with Russia?
1
Only a matter of time until the authoritarian regime in Paris cracks down hard on these protestors for the crime of trying to demonstrate. Assuming they haven't already.
1
@New World Anarchy, It's actually going the opposite way the past few weeks.
1
@husbanana I see what you're saying here but the reality on the ground doesn't support what you're saying. Armenia invades Nagorno Karabakh in the 1990s: 800,000 civilians are brutally ethnically cleansed. Azerbaijan invades Nagorno Karabakh in 2020: Less than two dozen civilians die. A huge military operation where less than two dozen civilians die? You're calling this brutal and inhumane? The guys literally went out of their way to keep the civilian casuality count down. They took 8 entire regions. Our military in Iraq would kill more civilians than this taking one neighborhood. I fail to see how your rhetoric fits in with the reality on the ground.
1
@Short Cut TV, sorry but the idea of Europe protecting people's freedoms and peace is like the fox guarding the hen house. The insanity of such a statement.
1
The trouble is Europe is in no position to move anything anywhere. I'm also fairly sure they're not exactly welcome in Africa either. France right now is slowly being kicked out of all its' colonies there. Africa has zero trust in Europe. Europe has burned so many bridges that it's pretty much stuck with either being China's economic vassal or America's political vassal. Pick your poison my man.
1
@Slajen, Do you believe financing armed groups which blow up schools and hospitals in a Nato member state while at the same time trying to join Nato is a wise thing to do?
1
@Mr Sporty, on this front hope is really all France has.
1
@S Sir, Orban's country isn't being attacked by an armed group being bankrolled by Sweden. Orban's country hasn't had 30,000 of their people killed by an armed group being bankrolled by Sweden. So by placating them, you mean simply asking Sweden to stop funding armed groups which attack a Nato member? What kind of insanity is this?
1
They don't even need to unite over everything. If they unite to get rid of the French, that will be enough.
1
@NouraZahle Well they have no problems erasing their ethnic cleansing of 800,000 Azeris in the 1990s.
1
@Rene Kuipers, they don't want money. They want Sweden to stop financing armed groups which are blowing up hospitals and schools in their country. Their veto of Finland however is strange.
1
How exactly will they do this? Wishing something doesn't magically make it a reality. European nations are second tier powers at best (In most cases 3rd and 4th tier) and will act in accordance to this reality.
1
@Hasn2241, Don't be ridiculous. It's fairly obvious what is happening. They're essentially letting it be known they are dead set against Sweden in Nato. Asking for things they don't even want, like EU membership makes this clear as day. If even if the EU caved and said yes, they'd have no interest in joining and would simply come up with another demand they hope will not be met.
1
@Sfbuck415, I didn't realize this video was about MBS and the Canadian prime minister.
1
@Vinith Gowda, your comment would make sense if you can name one church he converted into a church.
1
@edwardvalivonis23 He already did and it looks like he is going to get away with it.
1
@paulheydarian1281 Not nearly as bad lol
1
@jank6340 That's the million dollar question. Turkey will eventually allow Sweden in, after extracting a pound of flesh by making ridiculous demands in an effort to to punish Sweden for the past. Sweden will eventually realize they have no choice and will give in to these demands and join Nato. Will Biden then give the F-16s? Not sure.
1
Sweden joining is a pipe dream. That ship sailed the moment their government saw fit to finance armed groups blowing up schools and hospitals in a Nato member state.
1
@djabrayilmagerramov6731 It isn't just about the Azeris, you'll never see DW paint a full picture on any story. Their first reflex is to paint false narratives. It's what they do, it is in their DNA.
1
@tsifty1 Was there a few months ago, had a fantastic time. You don't have to come if you want to, in fact the rest of us tourists prefer people like you stay away.
1
@st.george007 So you take exception to the fact they don't want a country in the collective military alliance they're in that happens to be financing armed groups which are blowing up hospitals and schools in their country? What is your alternative? Should they cheer on the hospitals being blown up and congradulate the nations financing it? I'm simply trying to understand your point of view here.
1
Very insightful comment. Both France and Germany will be on their knees soon.
1
@TubalCain, Not really. The positions of the two sides are nearly impossible to reconcile. Taiwan isn't some micky mouse state that is willing to be gobbled up into the mainland. China isn't exactly prepared to simply let go of their legal claim to Taiwan either. This is going to end in conflict. Hard to say when though.
1
@edfast5893 This is probably the worst of it. And having the ability to make everyone become emotionally attached to the idea of doing it too.
1
@TCK Or they can simply veto the entry of a country into Nato which has been financing armed groups which attack a Nato country.
1
@angelapiliposian7317 Do you also approve of Armenia invading other nation's internationally recognized territory and ethnically cleansing 800,000 civilians?
1
@Harry Papas, viewing how the other party sees a conflict is such a terrible thing?
1
@keystone859 I don't think they're claiming they have rights to any of these islands. They're saying the Islands can't be used to lock them out of a body of water on which they have the largest mainland coastline of any nation. Talk about not seeing others point of view, didn't you watch the video? lol
1
@Svensozine, They don't want to join the EU. Making ridiculous demands on things like that means one thing, they'll use any excuse in the book to keep Sweden out of Nato. If you're a Swede who doesn't want to join Nato, it's a win win situation for you. You even thinking they'd want to join a sinking ship called the EU (soviet union 2.0) is ridiculous at this point.
1
@nonamenoname2767 Russia's major fear was Finland joining, it happened already. Sweden also joining makes no difference to them one way or another. Finland joining already put them in a near checkmate position, their border with Nato just got HUGEE. Sweden joining or not joining won't change anything.
1
@Mandar P, I don't think the United States is too interested in how a third rate power like France feels. Without the United States, France and the entire EU are simply sitting ducks and they know it. France will pout but will eventually come back with cap in hand and ask to play nice again.
1
UN Mission would have been critical in the 1990s when Armenia was ethnically cleansing 800,000 civilians. What is a UN mission going to do now? No civilians are being attacked.
1
@delta_glider4362 I see you've been reading that how to deny ethnic cleansing guide book a lot of different groups use. Step 1. Claim the numbers are inflated.
1
@anonymousman2521 The level of delusion in that government thinking France is going to step in militarily and support them is insanity. France can't help but even if they could (big if) like you said how are they going to get there?
1
@rabenfedersonnenhut A foreign nation comes and blows up a piece of Germany's vital infrastructure and you say you're not in the blame game. This is true but it's also the reason no one believes Germany is a sovereign nation anymore.
1
@accent1666 Did you seriously just ask that question?
1
Well we as a society collectively voted for this. Not sure the government cares about the uproar at this point either.
1
@bonnierussell9798 I'm not going to argue pro or anti what is going on in Ukraine. But I would like you to articulate to me how exactly is a situation that keeps Ukraine fighting longer makes us safer? It's a nice feel good talking point but I'd like to actually know how it works.
1
@Tmb1112 Names generally don't get that distinction. For example my name is William. If someone kept calling me Billiam because that is how they say William in their language I'd be hella annoyed. It takes a certain level of douchebaggery to not respect the name with which an individual or a grouping of individuals would like to be called.
1
@nextchapter9883 Yea, what every politician wants. To anger their voters due to lack of heating in the winter. Well played.
1
@Mikedevlin2048, Nato wouldn't work with a majority vote. You do realize each nation has a legal obligation to go to war to protect any member of the organization. Once you put this to majority vote, article 5 (which makes Nato what it is) becomes irrelevant. This move would scuttle Nato.
1
@surojeetchatterjee Any nations with duel citizen agreements allow for citizens of both nations to vote in both elections. This is the case for all nations with such agreements around the world. You expect Germany to literally break the international law on this matter?
1
It's too late for France anyway. They're still going to die a slow horrible death. Unlike Germany, a large chunk of France's wealth comes from their neo colonies in Africa. Colonies from which they're being kicked out one by one.
1
The EU has no interest in Turkey and Turkey has no interest in the EU. Turkey is simply trying to make Sweden's entry into Nato as difficult as possible. Nations are more likely to leave the EU than enter it at this point.
1
@RBD, I don't think anyone is claiming it will.
1
It's in Russia's interest to keep these two nations squabbling. Divide and conquer. France? Dude France doesn't even know what France wants. And frankly no one cares what France thinks. Why even mention them? They're a dying 3rd rate power soon to be 4th rate. Azerbaijan's military could probably defeat theirs lol
