@John Gibson, Drawing equivalency is quite tough. The African slave trade in America for example was quite different than the slave trade in this video. Slaves weren't slaves because they were of an inferior race, they were slaves as captives of war. Their children and grandchildren didn't automatically become property when they were born because they were seen as sub human. As much as this slave trade was nasty and should be talked about. It was quite different than the slave trade most of us know about. The Ottoman understanding of a slave vs the western understanding of a slave was quite different. Slaves in the Ottoman empire ended up becoming governors, generals and reaching heights akin to prime minister of the empire at the time. So no, not everyone suffered the same from the scourge of slavery.

@John Gibson I'm fairly sure this debate centered around comparisons of Ottoman slavery. Not sure what Arabs doing in Palmyra thousands of years before the Ottomans even showed up adds to this debate. Also even though they may have "officially" banned slavery, slavery is still fairly common in places like Saudi Arabia.

So while the white Europeans were enslaving African blacks the Turks were enslaving white Europeans? You have to be pretty gangsta to enslave the slave owners. lol

@danakaleb4882 If you're going to claim something is wrong or the person is ignorant, you have to establish why and how. For if you not, you seem like a child screaming insults because they cant' think of anything better to say.
