@GL-iv4rw Slavs aren't Western.

@Thomas Punt, there was a time which lasted quite a while that America's military might and being under said military might felt like a warm impenetrable blanket. Those days are gone, nations like Poland are getting nervous and thinking the day might come where they have to fend for themselves.

@chickenfishhybrid44 Poland isn't stupid enough to believe the situation of the United States defending them will last forever. I do agree about an EU army being a childish fantasy.
1
@chickenfishhybrid44 I don't think anyone claimed anything was a "forgone" conclusion. I also don't think most rational people believe Poland shouldn't find a way to defend themselves when it's more often than not such protection won't last forever. It's not a forgone conclusion but very likely protection from half way across the world won't be indefinite. Crack open a history book for god's sake.

@chickenfishhybrid44 I'm fairly sure you responded to me, so it's fairly obvious who I am or am not debating with. This idea you have that the United States will continue to protect Poland till the end of time is nothing short of childish delusion. You're debating against people assuming it's a foregone conclusion that the United States will stop defending Poland in the near future. No one on this thread actually claimed that. You're literally trying to debate a ghost then claiming other people are. Honestly at this point it feels like I'm debating some inbred refugee.

@briangbur8743 Not sure I'd call them neocons. They're simply people who think what the media tells them to think. Remember the movie don't look up.

My how times of changed. If Poland is able to get this ambitious plan off, they'll probably have enough might to conquer all of western Europe. That isn't saying much though.

@saucesriracha3763 Make an argument.
1
@Paul Routh, Russia doesn't have the stomach or the stamina to even try occupying Poland. Poland should still prepare themselves for anything though. The real threat to Poland actually comes from the west but not in military form.
1
@NadeemAhmed-nv2br If such a decision is put forth, I'd imagine the Pollacks would opt for sovereignty even with the threat of Russian incursion. If the EU takes such a step Poland essentially becomes occupied by Germany. With the sovereignty option at least there is a probability that Russia won't invade them, a very large probability at that. Long term I doubt it will matter much, the EU will collapse just like the Soviet Union did.
1
@KeyserFHT Oh so your entire argument is based on two things. You live in Poland and I must be on the Kremlin payroll. Wow that's one hell of an argument, I'm completely convinced. lol
1
@KeyserFHT Based on an adhoc attack which itself is based on nothing? You really are a terrible debater. You haven't addressed even 1 of my points. You literally just shout "I'm Polish listen to me, if you don't agree with me you work for Russia." That's pretty childish.
1
@paul1979uk2000 I'm sure that plays a role but for the most part Eastern European nations want to join the EU because they're dirt poor and mismanaged and hope some help in doing things right will benefit them.
1
@paul1979uk2000 You do realize Poland and Hungary have issues with the EU due to the EU's own authoritarianism no? Also Poland and Hungary aren't dominated by Russia not because of the EU but because of Nato. The EU itself has no ability to defend itself, it's Nato (USA military might) which keeps Poland and Hungary out of Russia's orbit. The EU does not offer any sort of physical security. What those mighty armies of Germany and France are going to defend Poland? lol
1
@Rico Germany's best bet is to finance Poland's military into getting even bigger and stronger, much like a buffer. No chance Germany will be building up a suitable military force anytime soon (if ever)
1
@sssd3461 People don't change overnight. If you can't understand why Germany cannot be a military powerhouse, It's not my job to work around your stupidity.
1
@sssd3461 Demographic collapse for starters. A culture which has completely and utterly emasculated their men. An entire generation of men who will outright refuse to go to war. The psychological scars of wars past and the fear of anything militaristic. The reality is in the future Poland will probably be the one defending Germany. Not the other way around. Unless you're going to tell me all the migrants who flooded Germany and will probably be a majority at that country will build a high tech military for them? Is that your contention?
1
@Roan Westraat. Poland is always nervous. Can't say I blame them either being sandwiched between the Germans and Russians for all these years and all the terrible experiences that came with it.
