@BigSac, Not saying what you're saying isn't true but it's certainly hard to believe and I'll explain why. The reason the Russians built such a vast war chest was because they were trying to sanction proof their nation knowing this day would come. Why would they go through all that trouble only to keep it all outside of their own central banking system where it does them no good. If they do have some outside of the country, I'd imagine they've strategically placed it in places they can access it even in the case of sanctions. Places like China.

@Andy Elliot, No one is going to put any meaningful sanctions on China over this. The Chinese seem to know just how far to push without losing anything. Their support for Russia is fairly limited (with the end game of making Russia beholden to them) without going too far with that support that it would hurt their worldwide export business.

@Nub, I think well before this conflict ever erupted Europe's influence on the geopolitical chess board was very weak. This conflict simply highlighted how much influence they've lost globally. No one really cares what they think. Look at the conflict in Ukraine for example. It's basically a show run by America and the Russians. With the Turks and the Chinese nibbling away at the edges. Europe is nowhere to be found aside from begrudgingly cowering behind America's back.
