Comments by "wholeNwon" (@wholeNwon) on "Should you Buy a Lexus LS? Is it still as good as the original LS400?" video.
I purchased my '98 LS400 22 yrs., ago on the advice of a great M-B master tech. It's still my daily driver! Out of curiosity, I did look at the LS500 and, for the shortcomings you mentioned as well as a few others, I walked away from the showroom and back to my LS400. My company provided me with new M-B's for 20 yrs. I will NEVER return to any German auto product again.

I had only MB's for 20 yrs. (my company provided them...all new and all made in Germany). Based on my experience and a lot of on-line info. since then, I can say that you're absolutely right.

@samshare2146 I can afford to drive anything on the planet. I don't own any German brand because they depreciate very rapidly for good reasons. Most of those are related to their high frequency of repair rates. Frequent failures are very annoying and time-consuming. Why? Poor engineering, deficient quality control, weak components, etc. They malfunction for valid reasons. Life's too short for that nonsense.

A '98 LS400 has been my daily driver for 22 yrs. It's a favorite of mine, too. Years ago a friend brought over his new Bentley Continental, a beautiful car. But the LS was clearly superior in ergonomics, suspension, steering, braking and a few other things. It was obvious that there were factory defects that the dealer had ignored. After a year or so, the new owner gave up trying to keep the thing on the road and sold it to the first potential buyer who came to see it. What did he buy after that? It was an LS.

If you ever decide to sell it, message me.

@paladin3116 How can one know what the reliability of the new LS500 will be? I wouldn't buy one because of the drive train change...and because they are UGLY.

@samshare2146 Most of us can afford it. The poor quality is insulting...sort of like MB saying "Gotcha, Sucker" to the customer.
