  2. But this occurred in the 1930s. The mass murder only started after ww2 was well under way. Virtually everyone collaborated with the Nazis in the 1930s - Brits, Americans, Poles, Czechs, Greeks, French & everyone. No big deal to say that pre-Israelis collaborated with them in the 1930s because everyone was.

  6.  @BwanaFinklestein  Remember, it was only until Kristallnacht in November 1938 when the first hundred or so Jews were murdered. Until that time, Jews had to wear yellow stars, not allowed to visit park, theatres, encouraged to emigrate etc etc. Nobody in the 1930s could imagine what would happen in the 1940s. You are viewing history retroactively. People who lived through the period could only judge what the Nazis were doing at the time - NOT what they were going to end up doing.

Until Kristallnacht in Nov 1938, virtually no Jews were killed in Nazi Germany. Yes, their jobs & livelihoods were removed, not allowed to enter parks, theatres, cinemas, had to wear a yellow star etc etc. But nobody was being killed. After Kristallnacht, the first several hundred Jews were murdered out of the tens of thousands arrested. So during 1939, Jews were facing persecution in Germany and the occasional murder. Yet the chance of the latter was still statistically very low. Kindertransport should be analyzed in this light. It is like Ben Gurion's statement of 1938: "I he would rather save just half of German Jewish children by sending them to British Mandate Palestine than all of them by sending them to the UK" Ben Gurion was talking about saving the Jews from UNPLEASANTARIES. Ben Gurion & Nobody imagined what would happen a few years later.

  13.  @deangullburry86  Many Jews worked with or made arrangements with the Nazis until the outbreak of war. This was BEFORE the Nazis were understood to be super-evil, dangerous force that they turned out to be after 1939. One tactic favored by antisemites is to focus on Jews working with Nazi Germany (eg the Ha'vara agreement) before WW2, without explaining the time period.

  17.  @DMC1982  In 1938, the arabs started to talking about "forcibly removing" the Jews of the Land oif Israel. Hence, as leader of the Yishuv, Ben Gurion began talking about doing the same thing to the arabs.

  19.  @tymanung6382  Conversion INTO Judaism did not occur through much of history. Why would anyone to convert into a dispised, minority outgroup that were blamed for killing God ? Does not make sense. Conversion of Jews into Christianity was very popular but not the other way round.

  21. The Haganah judged the Nazis in the 1930s according what they were doing AT THAT POINT. What the Nazis ended up doing after WW2 broke out, was not imaginable BEFORE it happened. Actually, during the 1930s, Stalin killed much more Jews than Hitler - a part of his "equal opportunities" Great Terror & purges.
