  2. Dr Gabor Mate may be a good man. He may be good in his profession. But he does not live in Israel, does not speak Hebrew, never served in the Israeli army, never studied the history of the Middle East. His "holocaust survivor" status is a technicality, if I can put it crudely, in that way. he was a 16 months baby when WW2 ended. He remembers nothing from the war. Yes, growing up, there were a huge number of missing relatives, which probably greatly affected him. Still, all that does not make him an expert on Israel.

  3. What Holocaust Survivor? The guy was a 16 month old baby when WW2 ended. This man does not live in Israel, does not speak Hebrew, has not studied the Middle East academically. He is totally irrelevant to the issue at hand.

  5.  @kampfy6443  Firstly a 16 month baby assumes Gabor was under German rule until April/ May 1945. However, since he was in Hungary he would have been liberated several months earlier. But my 2nd point is what does a baby's trauma got to do with the Middle Eastern conflict ?. This chap: Does not speak Hebrew (or Arabic) Never lived in Israel. Never served in the IDF Has no academic qualifications in Middle Easter Politics/ Religion/ Culture or History.. In other words, his personal opinion is his personal opinion as an amateur observer.

He wore a yellow star as a 6 year old child. Then, at one point he was running away, together with his mom and brother, from a chasing Wehrmacht Colonel who wanted to kill them. They hid in a forest, German was drunk so he did not find them. Moreover, the Israeli-Arab conflict started in the mid1920s. Well before the Nazis. So the Holocaust was unrelated to Israeli history.
