@bary1234 But here's the problem. Christians (in this instance) are worrying about what adults are doing in their own homes. You are worrying about what Christians are thinking. But I have yet to see you point out the fact that what we think doesn't matter as much as what we do. In reference to "do", I'm talking about this reversal of Prop 8. I don't care about indoctrination because I'm a critical thinker & I'll teach my kids to be the same way. That's all I can do.

@bary1234 You can't blame the belief. You have to blame the believer.

@bary1234 I'm not sure all the venom is a productive use of your energy. Religious people can be fucked up but they can be wonderful too. And for what it's worth, some people actually need a set of "parameters" because they can't think critically. Are the Prop 8 people morons? Sure. But I think educating them is more useful than worrying about being thought police.

@bary1234 So liberty is nonsense? Being level-headed enough to put the blame where it belong sis nonsense? Pointing that a premise based on Nazis is nonsense? You lose. Peace.

@bary1234 That IS religion. Those are taken directly from religious tenets. That's my point. It usually doesn't matter what gets the job done. What matters is that it gets done.

@bary1234 Religion isn't all bullshit. Being a good person, being a good neighbor & promoting good physical & spiritual health aren't bullshit concepts. If a parameter is based on "bullshit" (as you put it) but it still reaches positive goal, does it matter what route you took to reach it? I don't think so. If I give a hungry man some food in the name of "God" is his stomach any emptier than if I did it out of my own, personal empathy? Does his stomach even care? No. Relax, my friend.

@bary1234 So "love thy neighbor" isn't a tenet? Finding a delicate balance of health & harmony with the universe (Ahimsa) isn't a core principle of Buddhism? Being a good person & living in pursuit of "The Beauty" isn't the LITERAL meaning of Islam? C'mon mate. Like I said, the issues & problem you've listed are functions of corrupt human beings; not belief. Also, any time you throw in Nazis with your argument, you might as well throw in the towel too.

@bary1234 No. The argument doesn't crumble. My initial premise was that you have to blame the BELIEVER not the belief. I also said that religion doesn't matter when the goals is equality & liberty. But most of all, I said that religion ain't all bad because just as many good things have been done in the name of "God" as bad things. Ultimately, I said using Nazis (or Torquemada) in your argument is a shark-jump. Keep up with the discourse.
