@LittleChelly You may not see that hair in Princeton, Willingboro or Newark. But you'll see it elsewhere.

@WikeddTung And yes, the Times can tend to be a little snobbish. But again, I think we have to look at who (readers) creates demand. How hard is it to feel superior to Snooki? That's not an easy question to answer without introspect. Is anyone truly superior to anyone else? Nah. We can be smarter, more refined, classier, deeper, have more integrity. But there's no such thing as "superior" because we're all human. Humanity, human flaw, defines Snooki; that's her degree of "celebrity". I suppose.

@WikeddTung I don't admire "effortless achievement" because there's no such thing. What I'm saying is that she's probably been waiting her whole life to be here. Everything she's done up to now was on purpose. She's exactly where she wants to be. I don't "admire" that. But I ain't mad at her either. Cal me snarky all you want. You've never walked & talked with me. Your remark is the highest form of presumption. I didn't "make" Snooki. I hardly watch TV. I'm just like you: an observer.

@bjownsjoo In which hole?

@WikeddTung My point is that Snooki may very well be a piece of work, but she achieved her goal without exerting any effort. As irrelevant as she may be, she was worthy of 2000 words that weren't exactly "copy" for the show. My point is that we can't get mad the people, like her, who allow themselves to be exploited. We have to direct our ire at the media system that creates them & the audience that crates the demand. In the end, she isn't the villain. That's all I'm saying.

@WikeddTung Who said I liked her? Are you really this obtuse? I'm commenting on the system that creates TV personalities. I don't need to "feel good not to be those folks" because I feel good about who & what I am. Like I said, if you wanna point fingers, point them at people who think they need to step on someone else to be in a higher position. Point your fingers at the media system that elevates untalented people. Point the finger at yourself for NOT being "philosophical" about things.

@Wiked Not that this means much, but it you google Snooki, you get 4M+ hits. Google Cathy Horyn, you get 82K. She was worth 2000 words in the Times. Right? Would you want her defuse a bomb, solve a geometry function or write the great American novel? Nope. But I don't think any of that was ever on her to-do list. But if you asked her if she wanted to be on MTV and (consequently) be a part of the American lexicon (even if it's for 15min), She'd say "Hell yeah!". Well played Snooki. Well played.

My sister got me swept up on "The Shore". It looks like Snooki is a weirdo... just like everyone else on that show. So why are we mad at her instead of being mad at 1) the system that manufactures these personalities or 2) ourselves for watching this drivel? It's easy to change the channel. Stop hatin' on Snooks. She nuts. She's shallow. She's light years away from being "elegant". But she seems very pleasant. She's even kinda pretty. Most of all, she's 22. Give her a chance.

@mistacramer Is that the best you can do? Really. Is that the best you can do?
