Like I said, you may be right. I mean he obviously has an audience & that's why they keep him. It's actually a neat trick that MSNBC pulls to either upset liberals to get attention (which=ratings) or draw some conservatives to their network. But again, I don't think he's as out of touch as you may think he is. Limbaugh tends to say absurd shit but it's obviously for shock value.

Maybe you're correct. But I tend to think it's more like an act. I vaguely remember Joe talking about 1 of colleagues nearly getting mugged in DC & he acted as if it wasn't a reality. I've never been mugged but I'm a tough guy so I'm probably not the 1 to talk about that kinda fear. And don't get me wrong, Joe is, mainly, an effete asshole. But I don't think that makes him "out of touch". I think it just makes him an asshole. Nevertheless, that don't make him no journalist.

Joe Scarborough isn't a journalist. In fact, he's an ex-congressman. So I'm not inclined to think he's in a bubble nor has he ever been. He's a lawyer by trade (defense). He's from Georgia. When he served in Congress, it was a working class district of Florida. If anything, Joe is biased. That's typical of republicans.

To be honest, I don't really see much difference between the 2. Also, you're correct about pathology but I think that pathology is a function of the neo-conservative ethos. Mika & Todd are cool. In fact, I'd've said there was a time that I respected John Stossel too. That's time's past but it existe

As for what moves people in remote areas of the country, I'm still not so sure about that. What leads you to think that?

I wouldn't call them all talking heads. Some have paid quite a few dues. Tamron Hall, for instance, did a local morning news show back in my home town (Chicago). As a funny footnote, she's a nutty, foul-mouthed, cognac swilling car thief & a tiger in the sack (according to my friend who dated). But you're very correct about him & his ilk. I tend to disagree about the bubble though. Chris Matthews, for instance, served in the Peace Corps. That's light years from being in a bubble.
