  1. It's a litigious clusterfuck. It's not about the 'social' challenges. It's about divvying up assets & resources when someone dies or splits up.

  2. I'm not completely averse to the idea of a child having multiple forms of support. In fact, I think it takes a village. However, it sounds like a slippery slope in terms of a chance to have negligence pinned on everybody. I'm not sure if our society has enough responsible people to workably apply this hypothesis.
