  1. i guess it's some kind of symbolic gesture. perhaps it's an attempt by lapsed catholics & awakened christians (& the like) to insure that their funerals won't turn into religious affairs; hence the notices sent to the churches. maybe it's a way to be taken off mailing lists. either way, it's no big deal. as a practicing flyingspaghettimonsterist, i thin it's good that my sect is starting to develop rites of its own.
