@dirt0bike00 I've learned quite a bit already. Like I said, they never, I mean NEVER, recorded sneezing as a symptom. Then again, how much historical epidemiology have YOU studied? I'll answer that: Not 1 book. Not 1 article in JAMA. Not 1 abstract. You may shut the fuck up now.

@dirt0bike00 Upper respiratory irritation & sternutation have never been symptoms of the plague. They were never recorded as symptoms in the 14th century either. Before you tell some dude to learn his history, learn yours.

There shouldn't be a penalty at all. If so, every time a pencil falls & a student takes a moment to assist his classmate, there's a demerit. If someone bumps another on his way to the pencil sharpener & says, "pardon me" & the bumpee says, "no worries", there should be points subtracted. Hell, every time someone says "thank you", "your welcome" or "hello", there should be repercussions. This teacher is ridiculous. His classroom; his rules. True. But his classroom is in a larger context.

@ThirdRAILKink A teacher should absolutely be hardass about a great many things. BUT, if he's talking about social customs being disruptive behaviors, he needs to be hardass (translation: consistent) about every other extension of politeness. As a matter of fact, since social grace is disruptive in his estimation, he should penalize the students for using "Mister Kukovich" when they address him. All those spoken syllables is wasteful. After all, "Steve" would be a real time saver. Wouldn't it?

No. You can't argue with the facts. I'll let you retreat. If you want to know about the Plague, read Herily's "The Black Death & the Transformation of the West". Better yet, go to a medical library (they're usually open late) & pick up an epidemiology or bacteriology textbook. Hell, read up pathophysiology, the footnotes will always send you to a proper source. Hell, you can even do a youtube search & find some good videos that have the history. Until then, stop being a knowitall on youtube.

It's obviously his pet peeve. But his pet peeve is spilling over into how he evaluates academic performance. That's wrong. If it ain't got nothing to do with homework, quizzes, tests or class participation, it ain't meritous of point deductions. In fact, an otherwise good student might even be discouraged to participate in class. It IS crazy & unfair to take off points on the basis of class disruption. If that's indeed the basis, then points must be taken off in all other instances.

Read your comment. You absolutely DID imply a correlation. Dumbass. You're that stupid to run around making vague comments & telling people to study history when you haven't read it yourself? Here's a newsflash: there were other diseases in the Dark Ages. In fact, the problem was that they DIDN'T treat cases like they were the plague. They DIDN'T do proper isolation of infected victims. They DIDN'T have developed protocols. They DIDN'T use plague Precautions. That's why it spread. Seriously...

Knocking off points is idiocy. I'm an atheist. I know that it's an age-old custom. *sneeze*, "bless you", "thank you" is not disruptive. There's nothing wrong with a little humaneness among young people even if it's based on a superstition.
