@Sneezlebob Better yet, you're still stuck on your gambit. But thanks for opening yourself up to me. That's called fool's checkmate. I'll give you this: at least you're entertaining.
1
@Sneezlebob Ah, more namecalling, projection & even less coherence. Your grip on concretes is weakening my friend. I'll stop thrashing you.

@Sneezlebob 1, I'm a deist/taoist/agnostic not an atheist as has been stated. It's ironic that you're trying to pontificate about my spiritual outlook while calling ME arrogant. I wish you knew how stupid you look right now. 2, I haven't presented opinion. These are facts based on empirical data. The problem is that you don't know your own religion well enough to know these little nuances. More fail.
1
@Sneezlebob Actually I used your own words as evidence to prove my premise. Thanks for that. Anything else you're saying is silliness to take attention away from your folly. I'm done thrashing you.

@lilnicky492 As for my rant about the Bible, it wasn't to accuse you of being a Christian. It was more of a general challenge, to all Western people, to step back, look at what's shaped our morality & decide if we're headed in the right direction.
1
@lilnicky492 Of all the book in the Bible, there's like 3 verses that shun homosexuality. But it also shuns eating pork & fish with no scales. It shuns wearing clothes that are woven of more than 1 cloth. The Bible also has some stupid stories like Genesis & the Immaculate Conception. The Bible also has a central character who was born in Palestine but he has a Greek name; guess who I'm talking about. It might be time to use some more sophisticated narratives of human morality than the Bible.
1
@greedyfoot I know what you mean. It's funny how people just declare that "God says so" as a way of vicariously judging others.
1
@Sneezlebob As stated, I'm not an atheist. I'm a taoist so that makes me deist & agnostic de facto. And I've presented the facts that you summarily ignored. When I pointed out your ignorance, you tried non sequitirs. I didn't say all Christians were the same. I said they all share a commonality. Also, like most Christians, you don't know you're own religion. But most of all, I said that your notion of "symbolic" interpretation is troublesome because "belief" is literal. These are the facts.
1
@Sneezlebob Check & mate? You're funny. If you're going to tell me that the Bible isn't taught at Sunday school & Catholic schools, I'll say there's a flaw in your gambit. Are you being obtuse or just trolling now?
1
@Sneezlebob No dude, I'm not taking it literally. I'm remarking about the acutal BELIEF. If you're going to tell me that Catholics don't believe they're eating flesh & drinking blood during sacriment, I call bullshit. If you're telling me that Deuteronomy is a mere philosophical exercise, I call bullshit. You may be 1 of those dressed-down, softcore christians but to say that it's up to interpretation but it's still supposed to be a system of belief in grossly inconsistent.
1
@Sneezlebob Funny. It's Sunday & you're on the computer instead of at church. Or perhaps you're an adventist. If that's the case, you've no business on a computer at all. Nevertheless, I recommend you do some actual study. Otherwise, you'll always get thrashed by people like me. I don't want to hurt your feelings. I just want you to see things as they are. That'll be all.
1
@Sneezlebob You've pwned yourself.
1
@Sneezlebob Actually you've shown us all how poorly you construct your argument. You've also shown how easily you get judoed. In addition you've shown you can't read that well. But most of all, you've let us know how inconsistent you are with your own "faith". Typical Christian.
1
@cloudvszell Only if they're told in Aramaic.
1
@Sneezlebob Upon what evidence do you base that conclusion? Is there a disclaimer at the beginning? The last time I looked, taking holy sacriment actually means you're eating Christ's body & drinking his blood. Also, fundamentalists DO interpret things literally. But what I find the most disturbing is that your comment magnifies the inconsistency in religion. Don't cherry pick. Don't take the ethos piecemeal. You can't be kinda Christian any more than you can be kinda pregnant.
1
@lilnicky492 The ethos & following of modern christianity doesn't shun homosexuality? Eddie Long has a church that has 18K followers. TD Jakes's church has 17K. Rick Warren's church has about 20K members. Hell, there's 3 states in the Bible Belt (including TEXAS) that still have sodomy laws on their books. It's October 21, 2010. How "modern" are we talking? Dude, christianity (along with Islam & Judaism) HATE homosexuality. Most religion prefers to control what everyone does.
1
@Sneezlebob The Bible is a set of extremely primative narratives of morality from a time long past us. The fact that you accept it as a set of rules by which to live actually proves my postulate about literal interpretation. Thanks for that. Namecalling isn't going to give any purchase in a factual discussion. Maybe you should try something more substantive.
1
@Sneezlebob No. You're a christian who's taken some rather factual remarks I made & distilled them into some ideation of what personal opinions I hold. Christians ARE in the same grouping in that they, at least, carry most of the fundamental dogma. But here's your biggest fail of all: I'm not an atheist. I'm a deist/taoist/agnostic. Way to jump to conclusions.
1
@Sneezlebob So Catholics don't believe that? Perhaps you should take a course in comparative religion or attend a catechism. I have. Leviticus DOESN'T say, "Everything in the waters that has not fins and scales is detestable to you."? You should actually read the Bible. I have. My friend, you don't even know your own religion. I'm not stunned by that because most Christians don't. That's the problem.
1
@Sneezlebob No. It's NOT SOME CATHOLICS. This is what's taught in catholic school & Sunday school. Why are you denying this? Also, I don't believe everything I've read. If I had, I'd be a moronic Christian like you. Dude, Christians don't take the Bible symbolically. They take it literally. "Thou shalt not kill" is NOT A RECOMMENDATION. It's a COMMANDMENT. Enjoy your pwnage.
1
@Sneezlebob Who's bashing religion? If anything, I'm pointing bible incongruencies & biblical stupidity. C'mon, a Christain can't eat shrimp? GTFO here.
1
I REALLY don't think this was a great idea. I'm sorry this'll cut across the grain but I gotta say it. Those kids weren't bullied into suicide. They were already potentially suicidal & the bullying pushed them over the edge. That's not to absolve bullies of their culpability. But it's unfair to say, "your influence over me was so powerful that you made me cash in the most important chip: my mortal life." I can't get with that reasoning.
