@kevinbemeh Your dad is probably doing (did) the best he can to prepare you for an extremely cruel world. Your dad is probably old school too. Believe me, you'll thank him for it. BUT, I hope your dad isn't over the line like this guy was in this vid. There's being stern then there's just going batshit. At the beginning he was definitely batshit.

I know that kids can be a real pain in the ass. I understand that he may be frustrated. I also understand that we live in a time where kids don't respect authority. I'd never call a police officer "dude" or "man". It's "sir" or "officer". But that's me. All that said, this cop was over the edge. You don't need to put your hands on the kid. You call for backup & you write the kid a ticket that his parents have to pay. Then his parents will deal with his ass... or not & the cycle repeats.

@QUINKLEY Very sharp analysis. He's teaching the kids a precious lesson. He's letting them know that some cops are vicious, nutty & just plain out-there. It's better that the kids understand that early on. This way they'll know to use more caution when dealing with police. Don't call them "dude" or "man". Call them Officer (last name). Don't sass. Be direct but use mitigating language. And know that the reason a cop is there is usually to arrest or write a ticket; both are bad times.

@bIoodypingu No. The core principle of "respect" don't change at all. I'm not saying acquiesce to the badge. I'm not saying bow down because he's an adult. I'm just saying that it's not a good idea to fuck with cops or adults when you're 14. I mean sure, I can go to jail for beating the snot of a punk kid. But who loses the most? The injured or the injurer?
