  1. i think it's a legitimate question. what's more, the kids will never forget that assignment. not that it's gonna solve any problems, it's good to open some kind of dialogue. it's fair to start kids at an early age in confronting some of the biases they've already developed. i'd love to sit in on that class just to see where the kids heads are. because it addresses 1 of our own notion of 'humanity' & the idea of "self-preservation". like holder said, let's look at the hard questions

  2. although it seems stupid, i think it's a good question for kids at that age so the get to examine their own ideas & stereotypes. it's total shit but roses & truffles can spring from shit. be honest, wouldn't it have some value to hear what the future is thinking? on the same token, don't you respect the hell out of the kid that takes the F in protest? it's not splitting the atom but it's a provocative & could yield some good discussion

  4. but the thing is, how do you determine how to restart the human race? will you need agriculturalists, artisans, carpenters, healers, teachers... ministers? then how do those stereotypes come into play for a child? here, the mexicans sell the fruit & build the houses. tv ministers are black pretty often. doctors (healers) are from india. artisans are native americans. teachers are white. so what do these stereotypes say other than perceived disparity of jobs among race identified groups?
