my analogy was about a physical competition. you're talking about a students grades that lead to college admissions. it may not help my argument but you're indeed an idiot. like i said, they're playing against kids that have compromised learning capabilities (for lack of a better term). i didn't say "treat them like they're handicapped". i said "treat them with a little dignity & respect". a NON-idiot could wrap his mind around that. also, my problem is with the WINNING COACH. please read

differentiate between defending myself & addressing quarrel as if it were "combat". what i'm saying is that unless someone is my physical & technical match, i shouldn't do anything but walk away from the fight. if it should happen that i beat someone up, i get hefty fines, a felony charge of aggravated assault, my victims' hospital bills, bad karma & an awful event to remember for the rest of my life. that's my point. why would a coach tell his kids to beat someone into the ground like that?

but you forget the more important issue, lemme ask you 1 question: if someone picks a fight with me, is it incumbent on me to beat them into a coma? i'm a black belt in TKD, i'm 6'5", i weigh 216lbs, i have an 84" reach, i run 3miles a day, my exercise regimen is the same as a proam boxer. do i hurt my assailant, just stop them or walk away from the fight?

you have a right to defend yourself. but i guess what i'm saying is that if you must "dole out punishment", let it fit the crime. if someone advances on me, i'll stun him & knock him down. but if i leap up & come down on his neck, i've committed a murder. as far as the game goes, you can win by 1 or by 100 & it's still in the W column. 100-0 is unsportsmanlike

it's not really for you or me to judge the hypocrite or his hypocrisy. i'm self obligated to be a good person. period. evidently your friends weren't really your friends. nevertheless, you still have to be the better person. it's a bitter pill but as stronger people, that's what we're pressed to do. i don't like it all the time; no rational person would enjoy "being the better person". but i have to do it.

i never said "let them win". i said "be graceful in victory like you'd be in defeat & show the other team some humane dignity". like i said, if i'm in the ring with a tomato can, do i draw out the fight & beat the hell out of the guy? or do i tell the ref "he's had enough tonight". if i have to see that person again, i can take pride knowing that beat him in a competitive event but more pride in that i won with dignity

i dunno, the fight looked suspect but truthfully, kimbo isn't ready for mma. if it was just a swatfest, he'd be okay. but there's another dimension to mma. yes, people have fallen, been stunned & not recovered. that's actually not at all far fetched. BUT, slice didn't even defend himself. sandbagging to hype a bigger ticket in a rematch? why the hell not? i say "keep a healthy amount of skepticism". it could be either way.

y'know, damned if we can blame kimbo for coming along when he did. truth is, he's not ready yet. sure, no one wants to be on the business end of his right cross BUT, other fighters have a right cross as well as a ton of other, well developed weapons. all those factors show when he's matched against a complete fighter. also, kimbo's not getting any younger. he's a modern day tank abbott

nevertheless, these aren't players that have been playing ball all their lives. these aren't people collecting a check to feed their families. these aren't people who have to use their celebrity to eek out a living. these aren't young men. these are are GIRLS in a christian school league. that winning coach was suspect

if you think that dignity, respect, humanity, mercy, temperance & humility don't exist anymore, you're some kind of anarchist or sociopath. why not get off your computer, find a baby & steal his candy? because you KNOW that the social order has not declined to that point. those virtues DO exist. that coach was in dereliction of his duty as an educator by NOT remembering those virtues

that's NOT always the point. a 20 girls school filled with students that have a lower learning curve vs a large school that evidently had a lot more experience is what IS the point. whatever happened to the lessons of mercy, temperance & humanity. if you teach your kids to kill kill kill & take take take, how do they learn to share? how do they learn to extend dignity & respect to their fellow man?

i called a game on friday & it was getting out of hand. i honestly called the winning teams shooting fouls a little tighter so they could get to the line. they were terrible free throw shooters but i believe it made the score a little more respectable. i think you're absolutely correct, the winning coach should have chilled out & given the other team a few. many people don't remember the nuggets/knicks fight that happened because karl left his starters on the court at the end of a blowout.

your analogy falls short because you're not differentiating between personal academic performance that leads to something & a game between "normal" kids & "slow" kids. grades are grades idiot. basketball is a sport. you're comparing apples & lug wrenches (not oranges). either way, the girls were doing what they were told to do by the coach. i blame the coach.

i wouldn't exactly beat him into a bloody pulp. in an assault defense, your main directive is to stop it. that's why you drop the guy & get away. sometimes people address an assault as if it's combat. but in a fair, toe to toe fight, win but don't stomp the guy's nuts while he's on his back.
