  1. The premise of trying to give all Christians credit for what a handful of them did is tantamount to every Black person trying to take credit for GT Woods reinventing the telephone. It's even worse logic to think that abolitionists did what they did in the name Christianity instead humanity. The truth is that the bible, itself, sanctions slavery & even outlines how to identify slaves. In short Chris Martin (I hate that he has my name) is making a 'no true Scotsman' fallacy in reverse.

  3. Well there were quite a few atheist, deist & agnostic abolitionists too but he never mentioned them. You know that rhetorical trick he was playing & why he's playing. So do I. In truth, there were fuckloads of Christians in the South who physically fought to keep slavery; even more than the erst mentioned Christian abolitionists who were only policy-reformers. Stop being obtuse.
