you gotta be smart to get into UofC Berkley. you gotta be smart to propose, write & defend a dissertation; i don't care what discipline. you gotta be smart to write as prolifically & be published to the degree that he has. i don't care for his politics & outlook on race 1 iota. what amazes me the most is that dr weiner is actually a very smart man. he kinda reminds me of the more recent videos of bobby fisher that i've seen in the sense that we can't doubt his brilliance but he's WAAAAAAAY off his rocker. something has evidently short-circuited with that guy

...remember, his academic work isn't exactly politically motivated. it's mainly about natural sciences & medical anthropology. it takes a degree of intellect (or at least a degree of intellectual curiosity) to even pursue such a field. i don't like him but i'm gonna shoot straight. i really think he's had some kind of short circuit

here's what makes me sad enough to cry though. he's written a few books on nutrition & that's actually my field of study & i can't bring myself to read any of his work. he's so racist that i can't intellectually engage him on any level; not even in hardcore science. i'd probably assault him if i ever saw him. i know he ain't right in the noggin but i truly have that much contempt for him

No, he's a very smart man. That's why it's flabergasting that his head is in this place. No, a degree isn't "simple" to get. A degree means he persevered. Having read some of his writing, I can tell he has some ability for deep analysis. That's why it's so terribly disturbing to hear him be so racist. Oh well, we're all paradoxes.
