@Sull604 That's not the case at all. It's not about her personal life here. It's about an inequity to which she's issuing an official, civil objection; a boycott. That's as legal as it gets. Also, she's a CIRCUIT COURT JUDGE, you idiot. She gets DEMOCRATICALLY ELECTED; not APPOINTED. You could've easily googled her name & found her campaign page. But instead of using your brain for something besides cranial collapse prevention, you flubbed. Pathetic. Pull your head out of your ass.

@Sull604 It's NOT ABOUT HER PERSONAL LIFE. It's about inequity in a legal practice. Her being gay is incidental to the protest she's making. You're trying to present a corollary argument which is actually a fallacy. When Derrick Bell protested at Harvard Law School, it was because of he inequity; not because he was a woman. It's not an issue of "unprofessional" behavior. It's an issue of a judge demanding legal reciprocity for all. Law protects ALL citizens; not just the popular majority.

So "astute" & "just" means neutral in your dictionary? I think Mr. Webster would object. A judge isn't letting someone of scott-free if he thinks a particular drug should be decriminalized. If you've heard of a case like that, I'm all ears. In truth, a judge will usually let it be plead down to the lowest denominator & give basic probation or supervision given the offender's record. That's JUST. I don't know what angle from which you're coming but all your arguments are countered too easily.

@Cuddlebunzzzz I think you're missing the point. She's standing up for the ideal of equality. It's not like she's a physician who's refusing treatment to a severely sick or injured patient. Don't create false equivalencies. Also, the notion that judges are politically neutral is completely misguided on your part. The only thing expected of a sitting judge is that he/she makes fair decisions according to the laws & precedents. Logic should be your new, best friend.

@Sull604 Before you say, "I'm pretty sure", you should use your mouse & check your own comment. I don't mind someone having a different opinion. What I'm disturbed by is the fact that we're on the INFORMATION SUPERHIGHWAY and you didn't use your mouse & keyboard to do some basic research. But I guess you're the product of poor education coupled with unrefined ideology. Next time, if you find yourself out of your depth (like here), just be quiet.

@Cuddlebunzzzz She's not refusing to do part of her job though. She's protesting an inequity. Judges take themselves off cases all the time. This is no different. And no, judges aren't "supposed" to be politically neutral. That's not an expectation from a mature person. We only expect a judge to be just & astute. I'm not tryna pick on you but your logic is really bad in terms of the basis of your objection.

@Sull604 I can get with that premise. She's fighting a cause that's close to home. All I'm saying is that it's within her capacity & it's not any knock on her. Nevertheless, I don't expect judges to step outside themselves & be generic mechanisms. I expect that they be as human & opinionated as possible so that they make real decisions; not just reactionary judgements. I WANT new precedents set. I WANT the old precedents to be challenged & tested. THAT'S democracy in the purest form.
