  1. I agree with you. Cenk is absolutely wrong here. Unless you're being given a lawful order by a policeman while under arrest, you can tell the policeman to kiss your ass. Aside from that, the cop BETTER know what statue it is before he writes the goddamned ticket. A doctor has some idea what medicine he's putting into his patient's body & he's held to a high standard. A policeman has the power to screw with someone's freedom so they must be held to a similar standard.

  2. No 1 said jaywalking wasn't against the law. What we're saying is the cop's actions were bad all around. I'll agree the the guy had no business tryna tell the cop what the law is or to declare that he "knows his rights". But the use of a weapon, although usually non-lethal, is not only an extreme use of force in a less-than frightening instance, it's an inefficient use of manpower. Plus the copper should know what ticket he's gonna write.

  3. The use of a weapon, that's precisely what a taser is, in a situation that's non-threatening to the police officers is unwarranted. Aside from that, the cop should've been on his oats if he was going to write a ticket for jaywalking. I'll concede that it was an appropriate stop & that the cop was lawfully asking for his ID so he could write the appropriate citation to the appropriate violator. But if the cop's job is to write tickets for infractions, he needs to at least be in the ballpark.

  4. You don't have to wait on the cop. You can ask if you're being detained. Unless you are, you can tell them to fuck off.
