it's absolutely about the ability to enter in the civil contract. i can imagine that there's a degree of emotion to the issue for homosexuals as well. which is also fine because a free society should also be concerned about it's citizens' morale. the push that you mentioned came from far on the right. but here's the other issue. you're saying "why not civil contract?" but there's an issue of equality. we can't be a plural society & accept "separate but equal"; it gotta be "equal"

yes, you are confused. i just gave you a direct quote from a letter written in a credible newspaper & you offered nothing more than "google it". where's your proof? please don't point me to a blog either.

so the law & rights aren't synonymous? fyi, the results were 52% (6.15M) to 48% (5.65M). there were a 257K blank votes on the issue. there are >1.8M uncounted ballots. as you can see, it's not as cut & dry as you'd suggest my friend. that's why it's still being protested

only 6.2% of the population in the state of california is black. that's about 2.16M people. less than 1/2 of them are eligible voters. less than 1/2 of that 1/2 are even registered to vote. somehow he' trying to blame black people but not the actual lobbyists that convinced a state senator to introduce the proposition in the 1st place. o'reilly cherry picked a statistic & didn't examine the rest of the data
1
actually it was the whigs that supported slavery. don't try to rewrite history. but what's more, this is about the right to enter into a civil contract not values. don't you get that?
1
sir, w/o any proof to validate what you say, it's conjecture. using data from '04 won't work for you. if you got somethin' from a time more recently than 7/1/08, be forthcoming. i'll wait
1
obama never said that. obama dodged it altogether. he's said that his religion supports the man-wife covenant but he's not a thing about legislation. now biden is another story
1
because civil partnership doesn't get the tax breaks, insurance reductions, legal considerations as they apply to joint guardianship, legal confidence exemptions in criminal trials or alimony/equity judgments in the event of divorce
1
i'm not afraid because i'm not wrong. you won't provide proof because it doesn't exist. you lost this 1 mate
1
what's worse is that he's dead wrong. the black vote in CA is < 5%. he's a racist
1
so in other words, you'll render no specific proof that he's for prop 8. it figures
1
it's difficult because i wanna see what YOU saw. i showed you my proof, gave you the date & the periodical. those are the facts. you're giving me conjecture
1
why on earth would they? in CA, blacks comprise less than 5% of registered voters. blaming black people is ridiculous
1
so black people are to blame? what an idiot.
1
it's not about what some damn traditionalist thinks. it's about the ability of a group american citizens' (who happen to be gay) ability to enter into a civil contract & enjoy the privileges (tax breaks, cheaper car insurance, healthcare, etc.) associated with that civil contract just like every other citizen. this is about the majority projecting their beliefs & that projection's influence on legislation.
1
i've been objective & asked you to provide proof from a credible source. on the information superhighway, that shouldn't be so hard. if you choose not to offer any evidence you won't gain any ground with me
1
that's funny. i guess you met all 38M of us & picked our brains. right?

In a letter to the Alice B. Toklas LGBT Democratic Club read Sunday at the group's annual Pride Breakfast in San Francisco, the Illinois senator said he supports extending "fully equal rights and benefits to same-sex couples under both state and federal law." "And that is why I oppose the divisive and discriminatory efforts to amend the California Constitution, and similar efforts to amend the U.S. Constitution or those of other states," Obama wrote. sacremento bee, 7/1/08. you're dead wrong
