  5. Slavery has led to plenty of civil wars. And in this case, it led to the civil war in the US. To point to auxiliary factors in an effort to avoid the central arguemnt is intellectual dishonesty my friend. The ideology of personal liberty is what the country was supposedly founded upon. I could argue that abolitionists, who had agenda of their own, started the argument that slaves were people too. But that doesn't matter much. Wealth was built on labor exploitation; slave labor exploitation.

  7. @FumingPoliticalPunk What was the basis of the economy in the South? Was it manufacturing? Was it tourism? Or was it agriculture? Who did the agricultural labor? Slavery wasn't a "huge part". Slavery was central because they provided labor for the very low price of substandard room & board. Hell, it was RENEWABLE labor for that matter. Keep it real man.
