  1. It depends on how the character is portrayed. Was Robert Downey Jr. taking too many "liberties" in Tropic Thunder or was he attempting to made sport of how people perceive Black people or was he making sport of Black people by portraying an actor who played a Black character? Just imitating a person from another race identified group (in a benign way) isn't wanton racism. It's not about being ignorant of racial differences. It's about being aware of the attempt to create comedic art.
