That's a fair point but even that assumption is problematic. There are enough people in Korea & enough people with minds to have actually done some homework to understand what the song means. Bill was merely using this as a platform to do his Archir Bunker routine.

IF I understand it correctly, (not assuming I do) it's satire. It might even be a form of self-satire a la Vince McMahon & Paul LeVesque creating Hunter Heart Helmsley or like when they were in bored during the Italy season (yes, I watch Jersey Shore), Vinnie & Pauly D made up 2 characters & did the Fistbump, Pushup, Chapstick skit. Nevertheless, it's really sad that Bill & his guest are still stuck on Elvis when Elvis was a pastiche of Black, r&b artists.

The whole tone of the conversation is racist. What Bill's basically saying is "they're not like us. We can't ID. Therefore it's not valid." Then on top of that, they're talking about Elvis as if Elvis created that style himself. He didn't. But since Elvis is someone with whom they ID, Elvis is valid. If you can't understand that premise, I can't help you.

It's satire of that part of Korean culture. It's no different than making fun of people on the Jersey Shore. But Bill O made no attempts to wrap his mind around any of that. Racism isn't just calling some other race identified group inferior. It comes in forms like this too.

His own racism told him that he didn't have to. All he had to do was say, "I don't understand it therefore it has no merit. So instead of doing basic research, all I need to do is act like a cranky, old, White, Christian male & my viewers will love me."

No. Bill O is patently racist. He & Dr. Ablow are saying that because they don't understand the song, it's not a valid song nor does it have any meaning. All either man would've had to do was some basic research on this thing called the internet. They started the video talking about how many hits it (Gangnam) got on the internet. Because, as a Korean in a society that's essentially homogenous in terms of racial identification & hence you don't "get" racism doesn't mean they aren't racist.
