@genie0390 The US isn't floating on oil either. And Europe has comparable distances in travel. Your postulate is ridiculous. If anything, the US has denser population in its metropolitan areas. That actually means relatively shorter commutes because people's jobs are closer to their homes. You fail.

It's not even about what she can afford. We know she's getting rich. What bugs me is that she's supposed to be a salt-of-the-earth kinda gal & a hockey mom to boot, but she doesn't know that diesels get very good mileage. She's not even playing to her audience now. Stop paying attention to her TYT.

@genie0390 Actually, I seldom go to the gas station. I'll drive my truck on the highway every few weeks to get the carbon out or I'll help someone that needs a hand with an appliance but that's about it. I only take the Suzuki out every few weeks. I actually enjoy walking & bicycling. School's out so I don't have to teach downtown. I don't ride planes too often because the TSA annoys me. I also enjoy playing my guitar on Amtrak's lounge car. Unfotrunately, my brilliant grandmother is dead.

@underbjorn You may be correct. I tried to have a reasonable discussion with the guy but he's (assuming he's a man) not using any logic. Somehow, Europe is tiny in his tiny mind. Somehow, drilling shale & threatening ecosystems is a good idea. Somehow, American interests are paramount & it's not intuitive to SHARE the planet. Idiot? Perhaps. So YOU are the arbiter of who needs attitude adjustments? Thanks for clarifying that 1 for me. I could care less about oil reserves because it's high time we went green. Yes, I own a vehicle. I have a motorcycle & a pickup truck. Both of which I seldom use because my jobs are close to home & when I'm working downtown, it's more practical to use the bus or the tram. It's good to see you're still making assumptions. It shows you haven't a clear argument. All you have is "herp derp...the libs...".
