@jeremy8080 You're at your son's house & he left it signed on? You don't have your own email account? Dude, your story is falling apart the more you try to defend it.
1
@jeremy8080 It wasn't put in place to create an advantage. It was done to protect the workers from being exploited. The union at UPS lobbied it & FedEx reaped collateral benefit.
1
@jeremy8080 Now THAT is spin my friend. You're talking about a mutable law from 1792?
1
@jeremy8080 No. They didn't give me anything. They needed people to work for money. I needed money so I applied. Don't treat it like they did me any favors. It was a business agreement. And if the post office was hiring, I probably would've applied there. I'm a hessian in that regard. Handouts? Puhleez, I work for every dime I have. Moron. You keep thinking the USPS is a business. It's not. It's a gov't agency. Why don't you get that?
1
@jeremy8080 Amended DOES mean mutable. Surely you're aware of THAT. Or perhaps you don't understand nuance. That'd explain why you're making up a conspiracy theory. Plenty of companies are in debt. But what you don't understand is that the USPS isn't a COMPANY. It's a gov't agency that provides a service to American citizens for a few bucks. Duh.
1
@jeremy8080 So you're 62 but your page says 28? Which 1 is it going to be my friend?
1
@jeremy8080 No. I implied nothing. I challenged the validity of a 212yo law (that's since changed) as a valid argument.
1
@jeremy8080 I love you're postulating about what I want. Typical neo-con, you're too foolish or arrogant to just ask me. Like I said, UPS didn't "give" me anything. We entered into a mutual business agreement. There were benefits. I never said I was "entitled" or "deserving". In fact, I never used my insurance (as has been stated) because I was already insured. I figured someone could use the service instead of me abusing it. Handouts? That's rich. Way to blink in a staring contest.
1
@jeremy8080 No. Amended means changed; changeable; mutable. Stop mincing semantics.
1
@jeremy8080 A logistics manager? So you were a yard foreman. You weren't union. Also, at age 28 (per your channel), you'd've had to start working there at age 13. You're lying.
1
@jeremy8080 It's mutable because it's been amended. What are you missing?
1
@AlicexMarilyn It's racism here. Don't be obtuse.
1
@jeremy8080 Like most Americans, you'd rather look for a conspiracy than look for nuance. I also wish the world were in black & white but it's not. This is a nuance of labor laws not price gouging.
1
@jeremy8080 You're splitting mighty fine hairs for someone who doesn't understand a legal nuance & its chronology. It's even funnier because you worked for UPS (so you claim). You got the memo about referendum just like I did. If anything, you should understand why the unions made their move when they did. C'mon man.
1
@jeremy8080 That law was designed for UPS. The other companies simply benefited from it. And it doesn't give the USPS a huge advantage. In fact during the '90s, the USPS had to overhaul the services they offered in order to compete with UPS. Yes, I do believe delivering a package via USPS is cheaper because the cost to insure & handle the package is much cheaper. Dude, I acutally worked for UPS in college. You ain't tellin' me nothin'.
1
@jeremy8080 Dude, PES is designed so UPS's employees don't get exploited. It insures that the package's insurance doesn't depreciate over delivery time. It's like saying "if my pizza doesn't get here in 30min, I ain't paying for it." The PES was designed to protect UPS employees AGAINST that kinda stuff because they generally ate the costs. While you were reading the wiki article, did you even take a look at the statute?
1
@jeremy8080 The method in which parents prepare their kids for school is what actually needs the overhaul. Why in the hell do kids spend more time streaming music & video but less time with the 3 R's? Is that the teachers' fault? Hardly.
1
@jeremy8080 What's does where I work have to do with this?
1
@jeremy8080 I worked in Chicago on 15th & Jefferson, near the UIC campus. I worked nights (obviously). That was from '94-'97.
1
@jeremy8080 The last time I looked, UPS turns a profit. They don't need subsidy.
1
@jeremy8080 I understand that the USPS isn't really competing because their goal isn't to turn a profit. Why you're missing that nuance is beyond me. Meals on Wheels & McDonald's both provide a food service but 1 isn't worried about how much money it makes beyond breaking even. And no, UPS didn't give me health insurance. I already had UIC HMO included in my tuition. I was also still on my parents' insurance. And no UPS didn't "give" me a job. UPS paid me to do a job & I did it. No handouts.
1
@jeremy8080 Wrong. UPS has been around since 1907. That law was passed in '79, it was about to expire in '97. That's when the local 315 in Oakland made their move. Look up "John Cortez" & "UPS Strike". You'll understand things a little better then. You were probably 14 when this all happened & it didn't affect you. That's part of why your perspective is wrong. Conspiracy theories are nice campfire conversation. They make uneducated feel more relevant. But they aren't always accurate.
1
@jeremy8080 So a cheaper product will be out of business? Perhaps you don't know much about American cheapskates. I agree that e-mail has made most snail mail obsolete but that's not totally obsolete. And your FedEx/UPS $3 law anecdote reflects labor laws not pricing scams. And so what if the USPS rents planes for air mail. I call that socialism. I've no problem with socialism.
